Pilosio, a fast growing international company in the market of equipment for the construction industry was chosen for the supply of provisional structures for the implementation of the new airport of Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia. The job order acquired by Pilosio thanks to its established partnership with the Roots Group, a big player in the construction industry in the Middle East, involves the sale of equipment for the construction of a five level parking garage and for the railway station inside the air station.

The operation of the italian company for the new airport of Jeddah is split into two separated stages. The first one, which will last through 2012, includes the supply of a total volume of 15 thousand square meters of Pilosio Simplex Table for the construction of the multilevel parking garage, which will have a size of about 75,000 square meters for each one of the five levels. The selected product is a modular table for the casting of monolithic floors and it represents the ideal solution for the construction of large surfaces. The Simplex Tables are used for the execution of slabs cast on site with variable geometries and lowered in the presence of perimeter and interior beams. They consists of two base frames with diagonal cross-linked and complemented by forks and adjustable screw bases. The PL20 primary and secondary system completes the table superstructure and plywood. The manual handling of each table is made with translation carts, while moving from one level to the next, using a transport fork with a single crane lift.

The second stage in which Pilosio will make its contribution in the implementation of the project includes the supply of a range of solutions for the construction of a futuristic railway station inside the airport. To solve the issues related to the management of walls with different heights and different slopes and for the casting of floors with heavy beams, covering a total area of 17 thousand square meters and a height of 10 meters, Pilosio’s P300 formworks, Simplex tables and formworks for floors Linear were selected.

P300 is a universal system of modular formwork suitable for all types of building site for the execution of vertical artefacts cast on-site, which stands out for the high modularity of the panels and the great versatility of use. The P300 panels are the best compromise between productivity and economy of operation. Simple and robust, resistant to a maximum pressure of 60 kN per square metre, thanks to their modularity they are suitable for small, medium and large sites for the execution of walls, load-bearing walls, pillars, walls and single-sided walls, footings and concrete dosserets.

Linear is a semi-traditional system for the execution of slabs cast in place with high capacity props which support a primary and seconday frame of wood beams with protected heads. It is ideal for cast slabs in monolithic reinforced or lightened concrete and also for tradizional slabs with thick beams. The counter casting surface, usually made by company, can consist of “yellow” or black panels or various types of plywood 21 or 27 mm thick depending on the architectural requirementsand degree of finishing required.

The new Jeddah air station, for which investments in the amount of 7.2 billion dollars were allocated, once fully operative – at the end of 2014 - will be able to accommodate up to 35 million passengers per year and it will boast the tallest control tower in the world: 133 meters.
