  • Kleemann showcased its mobile crushing and screening plant train at IFAT Munich 2026, focusing on asphalt recycling through a live demo in the Crushing Zone.

  • The plant train demonstrated efficient processing of reclaimed asphalt pavement, enabling higher RAP reuse rates that reduce costs by about 40% and emissions by around 20%.

  • The recycling process integrates selective milling by Wirtgen, prescreening and crushing by Kleemann, and final installation and compaction by Vögele and Hamm, forming a sustainable closed-loop system.

  • Kleemann participated in the VDMA Crushing Zone and Recycling Stage, providing expert insights and engaging visitors on diverse recycling technologies beyond asphalt.

Premiere for Kleemann at IFAT Munich 2026: As a specialist in mobile crushing and screening plants, the company will be exhibiting their practical solutions for asphalt processing. Forward-looking solutions for water, recycling, and circularity were the focal points at the world's leading trade fair for environmental technologies.

Live Demo: Kleemann plant train in operation

The scalping screen MOBISCREEN MSS 502 EVO, impact crusher MOBIREX MR 100 NEO and stockpile conveyor MBT 20 clearly demonstrated the seamless interaction of the Kleemann plants on site in the Crushing Zone. The focus here was on the processing of homogeneous fractions and the production of high-quality aggregates. Visitors were able to experience this first-hand and vividly in the immediate vicinity of the plant train. It became clear that the more bitumen and aggregate from reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is reused, the better. As a rough guide: increasing the RAP addition rate from 20% to 60% can lead to cost savings of around 40% and an emission reduction of approximately 20%.

From removal to recycling: Asphalt recycling in the loop

First screen, then crush: Suitable prescreening reduces the mass to be crushed, lowers wear and energy consumption in the crusher, and simultaneously keeps the content of fines lower. This is the basis for higher RAP addition rates and constant recipes. The plant train on display demonstrates these advantages and is part of a continuous recycling loop: This begins with the selective milling of the surface course, binder course and base layer using milling machines from Wirtgen. In many cases, more than 60% of the milled material can be reused directly. Separate extraction of the asphalt layers significantly improves the quality of the recycled material. After screening and crushing with the Kleemann plants, the processed material is reused in asphalt mixing plants. Machines from Vögele and Hamm close the circle with installation and compaction. This results in an efficient, sustainable process – from removal and processing to reuse.

Milling, processing and mixing

As a co-exhibitor of VDMA Services GmbH, Kleemann will be presenting itself as part of the Crushing Zone (VDMA) – a manufacturer-independent demonstration area that brings innovative processing and recycling technology to life in a technology-neutral, practical, and future-oriented manner. In addition to the live demonstration, Kleemann was also represented on the Recycling Stage in the VDMA Pavilion. Here, the Kleemann application expert Frank Lebender reported on the “Asphalt Recycling Loop: Milling, Processing, Mixing,” providing practical insights into the individual process steps and their interaction.

Direct exchange with the Kleemann experts

Even though asphalt recycling was the main focus of the trade fair appearance, numerous on-site discussions revealed a broad interest among visitors in a wide variety of recycling applications.

During the trade fair, numerous visitors took the opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with the experts from Sales and Service from Wirtgen Deutschland as well as from the Kleemann plant.
