Police in Cornwall dig up old theft...

During a warm evening at the end of July, a Devon & Cornwall Police officer in Liskeard stopped a 1.5-tonne Kubota KX41-3 excavator (similar to the one below) on the side of the road and called the police-only TER out-of-hours emergency telephone number.

The machine was identified by TER as having been stolen almost four years  earlier from Summercourt - only 30 miles away!

Aviva Insurance have since paid out £10,000 for the excavator and are now claiming title to it whilst the police continue to investigate.
