Polish contractor demands productivity from Hitachi ZX350LC-6

A new Hitachi ZX350LC-6 excavator has been delivered to JawTrans in southern Poland to help complete a vital road construction project. The medium excavator – part of Hitachi’s new Zaxis-6 series – has been selected by the construction company to ensure a new 50km stretch of the road is completed on schedule.

Located between Częstochowa and Pyrzowice, the latest section of the A1 ‘autostrada’ highway runs through central Poland and forms an important part of route E75. Initial work began in October 2015, and the project is expected to be finished by June 2018. JawTrans is operating the site on behalf of Austrian-based technology group Strabag SE.

Highly responsive

The ZX350LC-6 was supplied in September 2016 by Hitachi’s authorised dealer in Poland, Tona. The machine is being utilised for earthmoving activities, chiefly to level the surrounding hillside and clear a path for the next stage of the road construction process. The machine is also loading a continuous stream of trucks that remove any surplus material, with over 3,500m³ of soil taken from the site each day.

Owner Krzysztof Jawor was confident that Hitachi would be the ideal choice: “I have extensive experience in operating excavators. My initial impressions were that the ZX350LC-6 moved quickly and was highly responsive. One of our biggest challenges is maintaining high levels of productivity on site, and it is crucial that we avoid any downtime.”

Krzysztof has also been impressed by the input from Tona: “We have a very positive relationship with the Hitachi dealer in Poland. I find the total cost of ownership on the Zaxis excavator to be excellent, which is something I discussed in great detail with Tona before the purchase.”

Power is crucial

The decision has been received positively by operator Damian Mucha: “For me, Hitachi machines are manufactured to a high standard, offer perfect manoeuvrability and provide incredible visibility from inside the cab.

“There are high levels of comfort with the ZX350LC-6, the music system sounds fantastic, and I have easy access to the controls. However, the number one feature is the power it provides – this allows me to finish my work quickly and smoothly, which is crucial.”
