Linamar Corporation’s Skyjack division is helping UK customer Star Platforms expand its fleet with the supply of more than 220 new aerial work platforms that span Skyjack’s entire range. All the boom lifts ordered are fitted with secondary guarding as standard.
“We are thrilled to be in a position to take another large delivery of Skyjack equipment into our fleet,” said Bryan Freeman, sales director, Star Platforms. “We demand very high standards and we pride ourselves in delivering first class service and first class kit to all our customers. We are very excited to be in such a great position to provide state of the art equipment to reach the demands for powered access.”
Established in 2014, Luton-based Star Platforms, a powered-access hire company, mainly supplies aerial work platforms and ancillary machinery to large blue chip developers and independent contractors in the construction and service industries. In 2015, the company opened two new depots in Kent and Midlands.
“We are a growing company and opened two new depots last year, for which we require more stock,” said Richard Miller, joint managing director, at Star Platforms.
With the recent purchase – which includes vertical mast lifts, DC electric scissors, rough terrain scissors and articulating booms – the company now has a fleet of about 700 aerial work platforms, of which around 75% are Skyjack machines.
Miller says Star Platforms’ customers typically use Skyjack aerial work platforms on construction sites with trades including cladding, mechanical and electrical installations, dry-lining, installing ceilings and partitions as well as facilities management applications, media, retail, industrial doors and security alarms.
Skyjack vertical mast lifts offer working heights ranging from 5.65 m (18 ft) to 6.75 m (22 ft). They are ideal for indoor applications because they are compact enough to fit through doorways and have zero inside turning radius.
Skyjack’s scissors lifts are the world’s top-selling aerial work platforms. Skyjack’s DC electric scissor lifts have a work height ranging from 6.4 m (21 ft) up to 13.8 m (45 ft). The scissors can be driven fully elevated in both indoor and outdoor applications on firm level ground. The company’s rough terrain scissors have a working height ranging from 9.92 m (32 ft) to 17.24 m (57 ft), the RT scissor range is ideal for increasing utilization since they can be used indoors and outdoors and can be the first machine on site and the last off.
Skyjack’s articulating booms offer a working height range from 11 m (36 ft) to 21.38 m (70 ft). Ideal for construction and industrial applications, Skyjack’s booms offer industry leading “up-and-over” reach capability.
Successful collaboration
Part of why Miller likes Skyjack products is because they are very straightforward, reliable, simple to use and offer a good return on investment.
“They have also been constantly developed since the first machines I ordered in 2002,” he said. “Skyjack as a company is very easy to do business with, often a phone call can arrange a quick delivery of product to satisfy a customer’s need. After sales is also straightforward and warranty claims are dealt with efficiently and quickly.”
Freeman agrees, adding: “The general availability is good, and they have quick delivery times when we run short of equipment. Whenever there is an issue Skyjack reacts quickly to assist our service team with parts and engineering support.”
