Specialist foundation engineering for Patio-City-West: BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH constructs excavation pit in the middle of Frankfurt

Frankfurt am Main, an international financial center, and also a center for industry, trade fairs and services, is one of the biggest cities in Germany. The City West in Frankfurt-Bockenheim district is a fairly new urban area, close to the city center. Here BPD Immobilienentwicklung GmbH’s branch in Frankfurt acquired a formerly commercially used area of around 9,500 square meters on which 287 flats will be built. BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH has been awarded the contract for the turnkey execution of the excavation pit.

The operations began in April 2015. The work to be executed by Bauer includes construction of some 2,900 square meters of single phase cut-off wall with a thickness of 600 mm, approximately 3,300 square meters of 550 millimeter-thick Mixed-in-Place wall and 2,500 linear meters of temporary anchors. Approximately 60,000 cubic meters of earthworks with disposal, as well as dewatering also belong to the scope of services of BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH. Several machines from the BAUER Maschinen Group are used: a BAUER MC 64 crawler crane, an RG 25 and an RG 16 made by RTG Rammtechnik GmbH, as well as an anchor drilling rig KR 806 made by KLEMM Bohrtechnik GmbH. The work should be completed in April 2016.
