With the Smart Connector 2 A, STIHL is expanding the overall STIHL connected system, especially for operators of larger cordless tool fleets for example in gardening and landscaping or in municipalities: In contrast to the first generation, the Smart Connector 2 A is inserted directly into the housing of the STIHL cordless tools prepared for this purpose and connected to their electronics. This approach allows to record not only the operating time, but also the speed, including time and date stamp, and to transmit this information via Bluetooth to a STIHL connected box or a mobile appliance within range. In addition, an internal memory allows the data to be stored temporarily. At the touch of a button and with the help of the three-color LED display, users can as well autonomously query the Smart Connector 2 A whether, for example, there is a message that maintenance is due. Furthermore, any anomalies during use can be recorded directly on the Smart Connector at the touch of a button and supplemented with additional information in the STIHL connected app. This gives the person responsible for the equipment fleet an even better overview of the condition and operational capability of the corresponding equipment via the STIHL connected portal. The Smart Connector 2 A is powered by a high-performance button cell and also by the device battery during its operation.

Users can retrieve the device status via a button and via an LED display on the Smart Connector 2 A or record any anomalies during use directly on the device using this button.

The cloud-based system solution STIHL connected at a glance: The STIHL Smart Connector fitted to gasoline, electric or cordless tools of the STIHL brand or other makes and the Smart Connector 2 A inserted into the housing of STIHL cordless tools prepared for this purpose record and store the operating hours when the motor is operated. The Smart Connector 2 A also records the motor speed and any faults, including time and date stamps. This information is transmitted via Bluetooth either to the STIHL connected app installed on the user's smartphone or tablet, or to a connected box within range. This device data is then sent - together with the geo-position of the smartphone, tablet or connected box if desired - to the STIHL Cloud as a central data store. Via the STIHL connected portal and the STIHL connected app, the data is then conveniently and clearly available to users for evaluation and use.
