WEDA introduces Straw4PX and Manure4PX modules that integrate automatic straw dosing and slurry gate control into the existing feeding system.
-
These modules consolidate feeding, enrichment, and manure removal processes under one intuitive interface, simplifying barn operations.
-
Installation requires only a compact control cabinet and software update, avoiding separate main computers and reducing investment costs.
-
Continuous monitoring of slurry gate positions and running times enhances safety, prevents damage, and provides real-time fault alerts to farmers via smartphone.
The Straw4PX and Manure4PX add-on modules from WEDA Dammann & Westerkamp enable the full integration of automatic straw dosing and slurry gate control directly into the existing process controller of the WEDA feeding system.
Core processes controllable via a single interface
Until now, straw dispensers and manure removal systems required their own, isolated control units from different manufacturers. This led to costly siloed solutions in the barn, confusing operating structures due to scattered control components, and a high level of programming effort for interfaces. WEDA’s new Straw4PX and Manure4PX products overcome these barriers. By utilising the existing intelligence and infrastructure of the WEDA feeding computer, all core processes – feeding, enrichment and manure removal – can be controlled via a single, familiar and intuitive interface.

System ready for use following a software update
A compact, ready-to-connect additional control cabinet for power and control is installed and linked via the internal communication interface of the existing feeding system. Following a software update, the system is immediately ready for use – without the need for a separate main computer. The module controls the provision of straw to the animals according to their needs. A fully flexible, pen- and compartment-specific allocation of different quantities of straw is possible. Additional lines can be flexibly connected via transfer points to ensure seamless supply throughout the entire barn. This module controls and monitors the slurry gates and the associated discharge mechanisms. It monitors the running times of the gates. In the event of any deviations, the system stops and alerts the staff. The computer displays the exact position of each slide in the channel in real time.
Key features and benefits at a glance
-
Straw4PX ensures a constant and demand-driven supply of organic enrichment material to the pigs.
-
Manure4PX ensures that slurry channels remain clean at all times through precisely controlled gate intervals, thereby significantly improving the barn climate (ammonia reduction).
-
Drastic reduction in investment costs: By eliminating the need for separate control computers and utilising the existing feeding system, the purchase and installation costs for automation are significantly reduced.
-
Safety and value retention: Continuous monitoring of the running time and position of the slurry valves prevents mechanical damage and costly system failures. In the event of a fault, the farmer can immediately see on their smartphone where the valve is blocked.
