QIKY GmbH, a leading provider of digital solutions for fleet management and machine administration in the construction industry, announces a significant development with the latest guideline on the Machinery Directive 2006/24/EC. According to §255 of the guideline, it is now permissible to maintain manuals for professional equipment in digital format directly at the device. This announcement was made official by the EU on April 26, 2024.
This confirmation marks a milestone for the industry, as it opens the door to a more efficient and modern method of handling user manuals. Users in the construction and mechanical engineering industries will benefit from quicker and easier access to the manuals, as they can now be directly available at the device. Furthermore, the digital format allows for seamless integration of updates and changes, leading to improved safety and efficiency on construction sites.
With the introduction of the new Machinery Regulation 2023/1230, effective as of the 20th day after its publication on July 19, 2023, various opinions have circulated among manufacturers, associations, and other stakeholders. However, with a cutoff date in January 2027, confusion has arisen among stakeholders.
Philipp Ellsäßer, CEO of QIKY GmbH, commented on this development: "We are excited about this advancement, which represents a significant step towards digitization and efficiency in the industry. The ability to maintain manuals in digital format at the device will provide our customers with an enhanced user experience while increasing workplace safety and protection. The differing interpretations of the old guideline have led to divided opinions over time, despite it always describing the 'state of the art'."
With this announcement, QIKY GmbH reaffirms its commitment to innovative solutions that address the needs of the construction industry and drive digital transformation forward. Now, users have all essential documents available at their fingertips, including manuals, §14 BetrSichV protocols (commonly known as UVV protocols), spare parts, service orders, or the option to order a physical manual.
Through intuitive fleet management, rental companies and construction firms of all sizes are integral parts of the customer base.
