The bauma 2016: giant of the construction machinery industry

The world’s largest trade fair in terms of exhibition space opened its gates on Monday, 11 April. Every three years the construction machinery industry presents its latest technology on 605,000 m² of exhibition space, which is approx. 56 football fields. And right in the middle, the world’s biggest standard tractor: a Fendt 1050 Vario.

“With its 500 hp, the Fendt 1050 Vario brings power and versatility to the construction site,” says Peter-Josef Paffen, Chairman of the AGCO/Fendt Management Board. “It is well-suited for heavy earth-moving with a Tridem dump trailer or for soil stabilisation with large stabilisers.”

The Fendt 1000 Vario features the Fendt iD low engine speed concept. It therefore constantly runs in the speed range with the highest torque and the lowest specific consumption. That means that its high power delivery is already attained at low engine speeds. “High torque, low engine speed” is the system, according to which all the vehicle components, such as the engine, transmission, fan, hydraulics and all consumers have been perfectly adapted to the ideal engine speeds. The Fendt 1000 Vario is powered by a 12.4-l MAN engine with common rail technology and a high injection pressure of 1,800 bar.

Biggest industry get-together

The bauma, an industry get-together for the construction and mining industry, is a trade fair of superlatives: seventeen halls and an outdoor exhibition area offer space for the giants of the construction industry. Over 3,400 exhibitors present the latest construction machinery to an international public on the exhibition grounds at Munich-Riem.

Ilse Aigner, Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology, is also Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of the Messe München GmbH in this function. She already visited the Fendt brand stand on the first day of the trade fair.

“I am a great fan of the bauma, because this trade fair is an absolute showcase of the latest in the construction machinery industry. Many companies save their innovations extra for the bauma, so that they can present them here first, or they even work towards this date. I am happy to see Fendt again, because I already visited the factory in Marktoberdorf. It is the greatest feeling per se, when you are allowed to drive a Fendt tractor. With Fendt, the high-tech industry has a top brand, because the name stands for quality and for outstanding technology.”
