The Eight Competence Centres at DEUBAUKOM

DEUBAUKOM at Messe Essen on January 15 - 18 will present itself with a new, more strongly structured concept. The core will be provided by eight competence centres about various construction-specific subjects and products. In a compact form there, visitors will be able to obtain information from exhibitors well-versed in the subject and from the respective sectoral associations. Thus, the most important construction trade fair in Western Germany and the Benelux countries will ensure shorter paths and better orientation.

Architecture Competence Centre
In addition to Architektenkammer Nordrhein-Westfalen ("North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Architects"), the Dutch material event called Material Xperience will also be located in the Architecture Competence Centre at DEUBAUKOM. The tone-setting trade event for architects, interior designers and people belonging to creative professions will be geared to innovative materials - not only for new construction and for the modernisation of existing buildings but also for furnishings.

Roof Competence Centre
New construction, redevelopment and modernisation - the entire nomenclature of roof construction will be represented at Messe Essen. From shingles via underlay foils right up to complete roof systems, visitors will find everything here within a short walking distance. Kreishandwerkerschaft Essen ("Essen District Tradesmen's Association") and Dachdeckerinnung Essen ("Essen Roofers' Guild") will be partners of the Roof Competence Centre at DEUBAUKOM.

Energy Competence Centre
No matter whether for the sake of the environment or the purse: Nowadays, using energy efficiently is in the interests of nearly all property owners and tenants. With the Energy Competence Centre, DEUBAUKOM will gather experts in energy-conscious construction as well as in energy-related building redevelopment. Important subjects will be, for example, utilisation possibilities for environmentally friendly technologies such as heat pumps, photovoltaics and wood pellet heating systems. EnergieAgentur.NRW ("North Rhine-Westphalia Energy Agency") will be the partner of the competence centre.

Wood Competence Centre
Sustainable, environmentally friendly and CO2-neutral - these modern requirements on construction projects can be implemented excellently with the natural raw material wood. Not only in the housebuilding sector but also in hall, industrial and property construction. The exhibitors in the Wood Competence Centre will portray the entire value added chain in wood construction at Messe Essen. Landesbetrieb Wald und Holz Nordrhein-Westfalen ("North Rhine-Westphalia Federal State Company for Forests and Wood") will be the central contact. Here, Landesbeirat Holz NRW e. V. ("North Rhine-Westphalia Federal State Advisory Board for Wood") will also award the North Rhine-Westphalia Wood Construction Prize 2013 endowed with Euro 10,000.

Industrial Construction Competence Centre
It will be a double premiere: Industrial construction will be represented at DEUBAUKOM for the first time and will provide a competence centre straight away on its first appearance. Attention will centre not only on the construction of power plants as well as of production and storage halls but also on infrastructure projects such as railway stations or multistorey car parks. Arbeitsgemeinschaft Industriebau e. V. ("Working Group on Industrial Construction") will be the partner. Moreover, architects, engineers and clients from industry will find experienced industrial construction companies as contacts.

IT Competence Centre
In recent years, the construction software exhibition section has experienced enormous growth. Therefore, it is only logically consistent for DEUBAUKOM to offer IT its own competence centre. Bundesverband Bausoftware e. V. ("Federal Association for Construction Software") as well as all the construction software suppliers will be represented. IT solutions for the efficient planning, construction and running of buildings will be offered. The target groups will be architects, construction engineers, expert planners, building contractors and skilled tradesmen. With modern construction software, all of them can reduce sources of mistakes and can obtain greater cost certainty.

Passive House Competence Centre
The running of buildings consumes a lot of energy: in industrialised countries, more than one third of the total energy consumption at present. Passive houses can reduce this value by almost 90 percent. Other advantages are the low operating costs and the low CO2 emissions. In the Passive House Competence Centre at DEUBAUKOM, specialist companies will provide information about precisely how passive houses function and what possibilities there are for the redevelopment of old buildings. Informations-Gemeinschaft Passivhaus Deutschland ("Information Association for Passive Houses in Germany") will act as the contact.

Housing Industry Competence Centre
Affordable living space is often a scarce commodity, above all, in large cities and conurbations. Therefore, the building trade is focusing on the commercial housing industry to an increasing extent. Thus, it is only logical for the most important construction trade fair for Western Germany and the Benelux countries to dedicate an independent competence centre to the subject area. Verband der Wohnungs- und Immobilienwirtschaft Rheinland Westfalen (VdW - "Rhineland Westphalia Association of the Housing and Property Industries") as well as EBZ - Europäisches Bildungszentrum der Wohnungs- und Immobilienwirtschaft ("European Educational Centre of the Housing and Property Industries") which will also award the Innovation Prize of the Housing Industry 2014 here will be the partners.
