The new TKR aluminum stop log system

Faster and more reliable flood protection

When the waters start to rise, it’s important to act swiftly: The new TKR flood protection system can be installed quickly and easily, even in adverse weather conditions and in darkness. The new TKR flood protection system comprises just a small number of repeating elements and can be used for defense walls, dike openings and building protection. It is particularly suitable for repeated use.

For the new mobile stop log system, the engineers from ThyssenKrupp have developed a patented sleeve
foundation system, which replaces conventional installation of the posts using bolts. It makes erecting and dismantling the flood protection system simple and fast. The sleeve foundation system is extremely robust and insensitive to dirt and sand. It is reliable and capable of withstanding high loads in all conditions. The posts can be protected against the weather and theft by means of an additional hood, which also gives the whole flood protection system an attractive appearance

The design of the center post is much more cost-efficient, stronger and lighter while using less material. The TKR aluminum stop log system is based on the modular principle: The aluminum profiles designed and made especially for this application are currently available in widths of 50 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm with the associated posts, fixings and foundations.

Simple installation, maximum safety
This is how the system works: The water loads on the stop logs are transferred to the foundation via posts. There are three options for fixing: anchor plates, sleeve foundations and direct installation of the posts on steel support structures. When using anchor plates and installing directly on steel support structures, the posts are connected to the support structure using threaded connections. With the sleeve foundation solution, a system protected by a patented ThyssenKrupp Bautechnik design, the post is simply placed in a sleeve and locked in place by turning the post through 90 degrees or turning a bar. A tensioning bolt ensures firm seating of the seals. Finally, the stop logs are stacked into the installed posts.

Using steplessly adjustable tensioning devices, they and the bottom seals are pretensioned and secured against upward movement. When the flood system is not in use the sleeves are fitted with a cover that can be walked and driven over. An optional hood can be supplied to conceal access to the tensioning and locking devices.
