The power pack with smart features

Cranab Slagkraft from Vindeln is launching a new, environmentally friendly power pack for road clearance.

"Environmental standards were the starting gun for the development of the Craft W17, the replacement for the successful Craft 601. We decided to carry out a thorough review of the complete product and here we are today with the new, powerful result whose user friendliness and smart features help the operator," says Håkan Bergh, Marketing Manager for Slagkraft products.

Craft W17 is used on wheel loaders with Slagkraft cranes with a reach of up to 8.5 metres. Slagkraft tailors the full machine solution with the power pack, crane and the different types of flails the customer needs for his clearance assignments.

"Operational reliability is the be-all and end-all. We know that our customers have many tough assignments during a relatively short season. Machines have to run for many hours – sometimes round the clock – and that's when everything has to be robust and measure up to the job," says Håkan.

Craft W17 tested in record heatwave

The Craft W17 was tested by a contractor with assignments all along Norrland's roads throughout the record hot summer of 2014.

"This provided many good answers and above all confirmation that the W17 can maintain an even working temperature despite high outdoor temperatures and tough working conditions," says designer Tomasz Kut at Cranab Slagkraft in Vindeln.

Development work began back in 2011. More stringent emission regulations meant the engine solution had to be reviewed, and there were also a number of ideas that Cranab Slagkraft wanted to implement. Great emphasis was placed on service friendliness and high-quality components – all in order to guarantee the highest possible operational reliability.

 Many new features

Everything from the engine to the operating environment has been brought up to date. Major new features include the eco-friendly 129 kW (175 hp) Cat engine, electronic engine control, a larger fuel tank (200 litres), stainless steel hydraulic oil tank to guarantee high cleanliness and provide higher operational reliability and service life on hydraulic components, more directional work lighting, a new control joystick and a new, larger, more clearly arranged touch-screen for engine monitoring and functions for the various settings. In addition, there are a number of other features such as more inspection hatches to make access to service points easier.

"We always pay a visit to the customer on delivery to help with installation, operation and a safety briefing. Close contact with our customers is good for us and it's good for them," says Marketing Manager Håkan Bergh.
