Free-Form Architecture and Inner-City Residential Buildings Made of Wood
At the start of the fair on January 15, 2014, the International Architecture Congress 2014 in the Europa Hall in the West Congress Centre will introduce, for example, innovative projects and solutions for structures with free forming beyond the accustomed linear and rectangular designs. Title of the event with a top-class cast: "New Construction with Steel - Free Designing in Modern Architecture".

At the Specialist Conference on Wood Construction on January 17, experts will discuss the question of how the sustainable and climate-friendly construction material wood can be utilised in inner cities as well. The one-day event will be entitled "Construction and Redevelopment in the City". On January 15, the North Rhine-Westphalia Wood Construction Prize will also be awarded on the booth of the Wood Competence Centre in Hall 3 (Booth 105).

Renewal of Old Buildings and Barrier-Free Living
In a "Living Workshop" in Hall 3 (Booth 136), Fachverband Ausbau und Fassade ("Trade Association for Finishing and Facades") will show what plasterers can do for the energy-related redevelopment of a house with live demonstrations given by master pupils from the Vocational Education Centre of Handwerkskammer Südwestfalen ("South Westphalia Chamber of Handicrafts"). Moreover, The DEUBAUKOM Forum in Hall 3 will focus on the renewal of old buildings. On all the days of the fair, Bundesarbeitskreis Altbauerneuerung ("Federal Working Group on the Renewal of Old Buildings") will examine the important redevelopment, renovation and modernisation subjects in around 60 lectures - including energy-related redevelopment, the utilisation of geothermics as well as the possibilities of barrier freedom in old buildings.

Even now, the need for barrier-free living space in Germany is already five times higher than the existing stock - and the tendency is still pointing upwards. How can a generation-connecting living environment arise? That will be a question at the specialist congress called "Leben plus Komfort" ("Living Plus Comfort") at DEUBAUKOM. On the four days of the fair, high-ranking experts will speak, amongst other subjects, about the main focal points of "Architecture and Technology" as well as "Living Comfort and Health Precautions".

Fair Premiere for Industrial Construction and Innovations in the Housing Industry
For the first time, the new trends with regard to industrial construction will also be introduced in an independent subject area at the construction trade fair in Essen. On January 16, specialists from the sector will also examine modern solutions for production and storage halls, power plants, railway stations and multistorey car parks at the first Industrial Construction Congress in the Berlin Hall in the West Congress Centre.

In a symposium organised by Arbeitsgemeinschaft KOOP ("Working Group on Cooperation") in the Panorama Hall in the West Congress Centre, experts will discuss the latest developments and trends in the commercial, municipal and private housing industries. Moreover, innovative construction products, elements and systems for the sector will be honoured with the "Innovation Prize of the Housing Industry".

"Stimuli for Housebuilding" will also be supplied by the event bearing the same name which will be staged by Gütersloher Bauverlag ("Gütersloh Construction Publishing House"). Compered by Burkhard Fröhlich, Editor-in-Chief of DBZ Deutsche Bauzeitschrift ("German Construction Journal"), work reports on examples of housebuilding projects from Germany and the Netherlands will be introduced in the DEUBAUKOM Forum in Hall 3 on January 16.

Competent Pollutant Management for Properties
In conurbations, free areas for housebuilding and commercial construction are scarce - ever more significance is being attached to derelict sites as well as to contaminated land and properties. With DCONex 2014, DEUBAUKOM will therefore dedicate an independent main subject together with an accompanying congress to competent and cost-favourable pollutant management. In the East Congress Centre at Messe Essen on January 15 and 16, experts will examine, amongst other subjects, special legal and liability questions, contaminated site management, interior room hygiene as well as the enduring subject of asbestos. Also in the East Congress Centre on January 17, Landesamt für Natur, Umwelt und Verbraucherschutz Nordrhein-Westfalen ("North Rhine-Westphalia Federal State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection") will stage the LANUV Congress at which, amongst other subjects, the redevelopment of the gas works in Hamm will be explained.

Material Xperience on Tour and the Netherlands Day at DEUBAUKOM
The successful Dutch exhibition entitled "Material Xperience on Tour" in Hall 3 will introduce intelligent and interactive materials which offer totally new solutions for architects and designers. Supplemented by the material library called "Materia", visitors will find around 150 construction materials for indoor and outdoor areas. The network bearing the same name is based in Amsterdam. In the meantime, its online collection encompasses 2,000 entries. It is regarded as the worldwide leader in the field of innovative materials.

DEUBAUKOM will greet visitors from our neighbouring country with a special offer.
