Three Dana Technologies Named Finalists for 2017 Automotive News PACE Awards

Dana Incorporated announced today that three of its technologies have been named as finalists for the 2017Automotive News PACE Awards. The PACE Awards distinguish superior innovation, technological advancement, and business performance among automotive suppliers. Dana's finalists include:

  • Adaptive Air/Oil Separation System – The system incorporates Dana's Multi-Twister™ passive-adaptive air-oil separator, integrated valve ports, and custom gaskets into Dana's Victor Reinz® cylinder head cover. This cost-effective and maintenance-free solution eliminates oil particles from crankcase gasses and reduces turbo charger carbon build-up to optimize engine horsepower and performance, reduce oil consumption, and improve vehicle emissions.

  • Spicer® Optimized Tire-pressure Management System – This automatic tire inflation (ATI) solution is new to the commercial-vehicle tractor market and is first of its kind in applying ATI technology to all wheel positions on the power unit, while successfully transmitting air to tires on both steer and drive axles.  With this solution, Dana helps fleets extend tire life and reduce preventable blowouts by accurately monitoring and adjusting tire pressure.

  • Victor Reinz® Multi-layer Steel Transmission Pump Gasket – Dana designed this five-layer gasket, which features its patented Wave Stopper™ sealing technology, to improve performance and fuel economy of vehicles with higher-speed transmissions, and to meet the sealing needs of higher operating pressures.

"The entire Dana team is extremely committed to providing our customers the best solutions and service possible.  Continuously developing innovative products and helping our customers efficiently commercialize these advanced technologies serves as a differentiating value proposition for Dana," said George Constand, Dana chief technical and quality officer.  "Being named a finalist for multiple PACE Awards reaffirms that our technology strategy is effectively impacting the industry and supporting our customers."

Dana is one of just three suppliers with more than one technology to be recognized as a finalist and is the sole supplier with three technologies named as a finalist.  This marks the sixth consecutive year that Dana has been named a finalist for the PACE Awards.  Only six global automotive suppliers have achieved this distinction.  The PACE Awards will be presented at the 23rd annual awards event, being held April 3, 2017, at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit.
