Three New Models for Every Requirement

CLAAS have extended their range of dual-rotor swathers with the addition of three new models, which will be of particular interest to businesses that have their own equipment.

The two models, LINER 1600 and 1600 TWIN, replace the tried and tested LINER 1250. The efficient LINER 1700 supplements the range of machines with larger working widths, meaning that CLAAS offers seven different models in this segment, capable of fulfilling every requirement.

The new LINER models can be easily and conveniently operated without a terminal using the tractor’s spool valves. The main drive on the two smaller models has been moved from a central position to the rear, meaning that all models now have a high frame and external folding rams. This results in a large clearing height of more than 50 cm and guarantees stable positioning, both on a slope and on the road. Speeds of up to 50 km/h are possible on roads.

The Centrepiece - The Universal Drive Suspension

The centrepiece of the new LINER side swather is the innovative, trailed universal suspension of the rotors. Each rotor is suspended individually and can adapt to the contours of the ground in all directions. A ball joint at the front end allows high mobility of the entire rotor body, so that the LINER can always adapt to ground contours in an optimal way. The new models' rotor chassis can move freely, preventing unwanted damage from the wheels, even when manoeuvring around tight curves. In addition, the high-volume main chassis ensures that the swathers remain highly stable on slopes. The LINER 1700 is also available with a 6-wheel chassis.

Constant-Lubricated Swather Gearbox

All three new LINER 1700 models incorporate constantly-lubricated, hermetically sealed rotor housings. These feature a simple power transmission via external drive shafts, long lubrication intervals of 250 h and new, stable auxiliary gearboxes. Each rotor is individually safeguarded by a cam-type cut-out clutch. The CLAAS LINER 1600 and 1600 TWIN have a working width of 6.20 m or 6.90 m and work using the smallest available rotors, which measure 2.90 m in diameter. The eleven tine arms are firmly attached to the housing. A pre-set bending point at the connection to the housing prevents extensive damage in the event of a collision. The CLAAS LINER 1700 features a working width of 6.60 m. With a diameter of 3.20 m, the rotors are slightly larger than those of the 1600 models. Another difference is the PROFIX tine fixture, which enables the tine arms of the new LINER 1700 to be seated tightly in the housing, in a way which results in little wear. The tine arms are secured by a simple bracket and can easily be replaced if needed.

Clean Feed Collection without Soiling

All three new models are equipped with double-angled tines - a CLAAS development, which has been used successfully with all swathers for more than 15 years. Their specific shape ensures that the tines are always positioned to grip and operate smoothly and reliably under all operating conditions. This allows even large feed volumes to be gathered cleanly and feed soiling is reduced significantly.

Easy Transport

When in transport position, the height of all new models is less than 4.0 m, meaning there is no need to remove tine arms. On the LINER 1700, the swath guard automatically folds to the transport position by means of a parallelogram, or it can also be folded hydraulically. A hydraulically adjustable swath guard is also available as an option for both 1600 models, and a second swath guard is available for the 1600 TWIN, allowing it to be used in dual swath mode.

In addition, all three models offer numerous new features, which make the operation of the machine easier. These include, for instance, a wide and stable support stand, an adjustable valve for setting the lowering speed and a valve block for adjusting the offset between the front and rear rotors during raising or lowering. The new LINER 1600, 1600 TWIN and 1700 will be available from 2017 onwards.
