The new Fendt 300 Vario was chosen “Machine of the Year” at the SIMA in Paris. Nineteen technology journalists from eight European countries awarded the best new agricultural machinery in 17 categories.
The Fendt 300 Vario scored with the international jury of experts in the category “Tractors below 150 hp”. “The new 300er convinced us all. This machine cannot be compared with the previous model in terms of construction and technology,” said Dieter Dänzer, Editor in Chief of the trade newspaper AGRARTECHNIK, regarding the tractor innovation. “With front linkage control with load relief, electric valves and the new, large cab, the 300 Vario offers farmers many new technical innovations for this medium horsepower class. It actually deserves a new name,” he joked. The power range from 100 - 149 hp is the largest market segment in France. “We would like to grow even further here with these outstanding machines. Our goal is to achieve a similarly high market share with these machines as with our high-horsepower tractors,” said Fabien Pottier, Commercial Director Fendt France.
Fendt market share in France over 10 percent for the first time
The market share for Fendt tractors over 60 hp grew tremendously within the last 10 years and climbed from 5.8 percent to 10.8 percent in 2014. “That is a 5-percent gain in market share on the largest agricultural market in Europe. Especially in light of the stressed French tractor market last year, this increase in market share deserves very high regard,” emphasises Peter-Josef Paffen, Chairman of the AGCO/Fendt Management Board.
Customer resonance at the SIMA
Fendt presented itself as a full-liner at the SIMA in Paris. Besides the Fendt 9490 X combine and the Katana 85 forage harvester, the new Fendt 300 Vario and the new Fendt 700 Vario were also exhibited here in three different equipment versions: Power, Profi and Profi Plus. The main attraction for many visitors was the Fendt 1000 Vario, shown for the first time at a major trade fair. The 500 hp tractor was certainly one of the most photographed machines at the exhibition – so to say, the top model of the SIMA. “After the first three days of the exhibition, we can already draw a very positive interim balance,” says Peter-Josef Paffen. “Our Fendt stand was very well visited. Talks with farmers as well as the interest shown in our machines were very encouraging for me and my French team. And now that we have also received awards for our products, we are really looking forward to the Agritechnica in Hanover,” says Paffen. The “Machine of the Year 2016” will be announced by the dlv publishers (Deutscher Landwirtschaftsverlag) at the biggest agricultural machinery trade fair, the Agritechnica, in November.
