Two "Machine of the Year 2015" awards for CLAAS

Two CLAAS machines won awards for "Machine of the Year 2015" at the SIMA trade fair in Paris yesterday. More than 150 guests watched the award ceremony at the the stand of the French agricultural magazine “Terre-net” with excitement.

In the "Combine harvester" category the new TUCANO won the jury over and in the “Mower" category the DISCO 9200 with its new MAX CUT cutterbar received its coveted award.

TUCANO - Mid-size model impresses with premium comfort

The TUCANO is today considered the premium model at the high-end of the mid-size combine harvester segment. Eight models cover a power range from 245 to 378 hp. Thanks to the APS threshing system and APS HYBRID SYSTEM, this model series is well known for being suitable for multiple crops, as well as for its combination of high throughput capacity with simultaneously high straw quality. In the new TUCANO, which was launched in summer 2014, CLAAS has further improved these features in the new TUCANO and has also brought it closer to the LEXION in terms of design and appearance. All new models have been given many of the comfort features of the LEXION class. The new TUCANO is available in three model series: the 500 series with APS HYBRID threshing system, the 400 series as an APS straw walker and the 300 series with conventional CLAAS threshing system and as a straw walker.

DISCO 9200 with new MAX CUT cutterbar

CLAAS released its new MAX CUT cutterbar developed in-house last summer. It is the heart of the DISCO mower units produced in the Bad Saulgau production site for greenline machinery. The extension of the local assembly hall has made it possible for this core component – which is vital to the function and work quality of the machine – to be produced in-house.

With a total of 28 new models, which are already equipped with the new MAX CUT cutterbar, with working widths ranging from 2.60 to 9.10 m, CLAAS entered a new mower unit dimension in the summer of 2014. With both the DISCO 9200 BUSINESS and 9200 C BUSINESS mower units, a professional large-area mower combination is offered for large farms and farm contractors. The DISCO 9200 large-area mower is also available as the AUTOSWATHER model with swath guidance.

The title of "Machine of the Year" was awarded at the SIMA trade fair for the first time this year. 19 agricultural technology journalists from eight European countries awarded prizes in 17 categories for the best innovations in agricultural technology. This year, the French magazine "Terre-net" organized the vote. The award ceremony, which was established in 1997 by journalists of the dlv publishing house (Deutscher Landwirtschaftsverlag), was previously held every two years at the Agritechnica trade fair in Hanover. The awards for "Machine of the Year 2016" will be announced at the Agritechnica 2015.
