Waste recycling in the Soest area: New material handler sorting and loading for ESG

Two new SENNEBOGEN 818 material handlers have been recycling waste in the district of Soest. The machines, delivered by Schlüter Baumaschinen GmbH, sort up to 150,000 t of domestic and commercial waste per year.

Each resident in Germany produces around 500 kg of domestic waste per year. This means just under one ton of waste is produced in German households every second. Cities, communities and even private companies see to the disposal and recycling of waste. Entsorgungswirtschaft Soest GmbH, the local waste management administration of the district of Soest, North Rhine-Westphalia, has been working hand-in-hand with the private companies Remondis and Veolia Umweltservice since 1993.

A total of 45 employees, bolstered recently by two new SENNEBOGEN 818 rehandling excavators, work to process the some 150,000 t of domestic and commercial waste produced every year by the near 300,000 residents in the region.

Robust SENNEBOGEN material handler with 9 m equipment

Schlüter Baumaschinen GmbH, the local SENNEBOGEN sales and service partner, delivered the two new machines at the beginning of the year to sort and load the waste. The latest generation of modern material handlers are equipped with a 97 kW diesel engine with exhaust aftertreatment, 9 m long rehandling equipment, and numerous safety features. The cab, which can be elevated up to 2.7 m, gives operator Thomas Wulff an optimal view of the work area. Numerous cameras and work lighting help him with a variety of tasks, such as loading shipping containers. In addition, the operator also has access to a grapple scale and protective ventilation.

The machine's robust design with mobile undercarriage, together with ease of maintenance and simple handling, were critical factors in choosing the SENNEBOGEN machine, report Wulff and Operations Manager Dirk Conrady.

With sales partner Schlüter Baumaschinen GmbH in nearby Erwitte, maintenance and spare parts technicians are on site in a flash. Excitement was abound at the official handover in Erwitte as everyone present looked forward to working with the new machine.
