bauma 2019: Sustainability is one of the core topics

By its very nature, the construction industry has a very large ecological footprint. At bauma, exhibitors are going to present innovations towards sustainability, resource conservation and environmental protection. Some of the solutions have also been nominated for the bauma Innovation Award. bauma is the world's leading trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construcbaumtion vehicles and construction equipment. This year, it will take place from April 8 to 14 at the Munich Exhibition Grounds.

Kalmar to help Rio Estiba reduce the environmental impact of their operations in Uruguay

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, will supply seven terminal tractors and six forklifts, including two fully electric machines, to the Rio Estiba terminal in Nueva Palmira, Uruguay. The order was booked in Cargotec's 2018 Q4 order intake with delivery scheduled to take place in Q2 of 2019. Read more >>

Hyster ® offers lithium-ion battery options for counterbalance and warehouse trucks

The industrial truck brand Hyster® now offers almost all counterbalance lift trucks and warehouse equipment ex works, with lithium-ion batteries. At the LogiMAT trade fair for intralogistics in Stuttgart, the company presented the Hyster® J1.6XN three-wheel electric counterbalance truck with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery, which requires minimal maintenance. Read more >>

Tigercat releases largest machine in forestry line-up

Tigercat continues to set the bar high with the introduction of the new 890 logger – the largest machine in the Tigercat forestry equipment line-up – a heavy duty, purpose-built forestry carrier that can be configured for loading, shovel logging or processing. Weighing 47 900 kg (105,600 lb), it is the largest, highest capacity machine in Tigercat’s purpose built forestry product line. The Tigercat FPT C87 engine delivers 245 kW (330 hp) at 2,000 rpm for Tier 2 and Tier 4 emission compliance. Read more >>

New purpose-built CAT® scrap shears enhance productivity in primary demolition and scrap processing

Caterpillar Work Tools has expanded its range of excavator attachments with three new scrap-shear models—S3015, S3025, and S3035—which build on the company’s demolition-and scrap processing technology experience. Designed for hydraulic excavators with operating weights between 8 and 40 metric tons, these new Cat® shears feature optimum force-to-weight ratios that yield faster cycle times and more cuts per hour, compared with predecessor models. The new shears join the rotating models—S3050, S3070, and S3090—as well as the straight versions—S2050, S2070, and S2090—in the Cat scrap-shear range. Read more >>

Stacker truck with fully integrated lithium-ion battery

With the ERC 216zi, Jungheinrich presents an all-new electric stacker truck. One year after the company launched the first forklift truck with a fully integrated lithium-ion battery, the ETV 216i reach truck, Jungheinrich is now extending this concept to the ERC 216zi. Thanks to the fixed lithium-ion battery, the forklift truck is particularly compact and agile. Instead of the battery tray behind the mast that was previously standard on these types of forklift truck, the energy storage unit of the ERC 216zi is installed centrally in the truck. With an L2 dimension of 1245 mm, the ERC 216zi is at least 170 mm shorter than comparable vehicles and by far the most compact electric stacker truck on the market. Read more >>
