Wonders in Wood & Young at Art at LIGNA 2013

Hannover. Wonders in Wood is a special presentation and sales exhibition in support of young artists and next-generation tradespeople who use wood as their artistic medium. 2013 marks the fourth time that LIGNA, which runs from 6 to 10 May, will be hosting this captivating event.

The theme chosen for the 2013 exhibition is woodturning – a first for Wonders in Wood – and the exhibits will be contributed by the students of the Bad Kissingen State Vocational School (Staatliche Berufsfachschule Bad Kissingen).

Next year’s Wonders in Wood presentation will also feature the exclusive Young at Art emerging talent competition, which will be organized by Deutsche Messe in association with the Bad Kissingen State Vocational School and the Association of German Wood Turners and Wooden Toy Craftsmen (Verband des deutschen Drechsler- und Holzspielzeugmacherhandwerks e.V.).

The Young at Art award was initiated by Deutsche Messe in 2010. In 2013, it will be contested exclusively by woodturning graduates from the Bad Kissingen State Vocational School who completed their studies between 2008 and 2012.

The purpose of the LIGNA Young at Art award is to highlight the artistic use of wood materials and to provide more targeted support for young woodturning artists and craftspeople.

The woodturning exhibition and the display of Young at Art entries will be located in Hall 15 and open on each day of LIGNA 2013 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Entry forms for the Young at Art emerging talent competition can be downloaded from www.wonders-in-wood.de. Further information is available from Angelina Deutsch at the Wonders in Wood project office (Tel. +49 172 754 6917, projekt@wonders-in-wood.de).
