XCMG Becomes the First Choice in African Road Construction

Ethiopia is undergoing a fairly rapid economic growth and infrastructure construction is now the major engine driving the development of the country. Roads, railways and water dams are among the major civil facilities under construction. It is estimated that road network of the country will be expanded to 136 thousand kilometers.

The project of upgrading the Kombolcha-Bati-Mille road is financed by the Word Bank. The road located in the Northeast Ethiopia across Amhara and Afar is a major connection linking Middle Ethiopia and Djibouti Port.The project Burka-Mille is a part of Kombolcha-Bati-Mille. With total length of 74 kilometers and 3 years’ of project duration, the project costs over 70 million US dollars. The section Burka-Mille connects Northeastern Ethiopia and Djibouti, playing a very important role of the Ethiopian import and export business. Complete of the project will help Ethiopia improving is cross-border trading and will hence promoting its economic development.

Responsible for the project is a fleet of machines provided by XCMG. Among them are the XS223J road roller, XS262 road roller, GR180 motor grader, RP952 asphalt paver and synchronous chip sealer XTF120. The team withstand extreme tough working conditions under a temperature reaching up to 46℃. The stable performance of the machines received high recognition from the customers.
