One of Yorkshire's leading independent plant and tool hire companies has recently purchased a fleet of Wacker Neuson excavators which now makes it the largest operator of the Austrian-built machines in the UK.
Fairfax Plant Hire of Selby has been growing steadily for the last 25 years and currently has a total mixed fleet of over 500 machines, half of which are excavators ranging in size from 0.8 to 33 tonne. Last year, the company took delivery of six Wacker Neuson TH625 compact telehandlers and has now added twenty of the company's 8 tonne short tailswing excavators plus twelve 5 tonne zero tailswing units.
Commenting on the choice of Wacker Neuson equipment, Fairfax Plant Hire's business development director Mark Love said: "We have run the company's trench rollers, compaction plates and dumpers for some time and they have all been very well received by our customers. We find the products to be very well engineered and reliable, with the benefit of excellent back-up from the manufacturer, so it was a logical step to add the company's excavators to our plant holding."
The 5 tonne 50Z3 models are the first true zero tailswing units to be added to the Fairfax fleet and have been chosen to meet an increasing demand from sites where space is at a premium. This model s powered by a Yanmar diesel engine developing 28.1 kW @ 2400 rpm and offers a maximum digging depth and reach of 3500 mm and 5965 mm respectively. Its zero tailswing ability has been achieved by mounting the engine laterally alongside the cab with the valve control block and fuel and hydraulic oil tanks at the rear. Despite ultra-compact dimensions, the machine offers a spacious and comfortable cab with a comprehensive level of standard equipment.
