ZF develops the continuously variable TERRAMATIC TMG 45 transmission for standard tractors up to 450 hp

  • High-performance, continuously variable transmission for standard tractors

  • Further development of the ECCOM 3.0

  • Higher power density and improved efficiency

  • Application in DEUTZ-FAHR 11 Series

The premium line of the ZF continuously variable transmissions is being expanded upwards with the TMG 45. The new designation conceals a further development of the continuously variable ECCOM 3.0.

The self-supporting transmission will go into series production in 2015 and improves the power rating from originally 420 hp to 450 hp engine power. The TMG 45 can attain a final speed of 50 km/h at reduced revs of 1,400 rpm.

Due to the modular construction, well-proven components from the TERRAMATIC kit can also be used with this transmission. The cast housings which bear the structure can be used for standard tractors with a GVW of up to 22 tonnes.

Due to the new hydrostats (110/90 ccm) in oblique-disc/oblique-axle construction, a higher power density and also better efficiency are achieved. Furthermore, options for fuel savings, such as for example the variable system pressure for pressure reduction in the working and transport modes are offered. In this way the power loss is reduced to 3 kW.

A new and more powerful local control unit will be integrated in a further development stage. The principal advantages of the local control unit include being able to provide the vehicle manufacturer with a transmission and electronic system as a ready-tested unit.

Additional optimisation from the ZF Efficiency Package ensures improved efficiency. With this further development ZF is offering the highest performing continuously variable transmission for standard tractors on the market.

The powertrain TMG 45 will be employed in the premium vehicle 11 Series by DEUTZ-FAHR.
