HIMOINSA has supplied six generator sets in parallel with redundancy, providing a total of 3.6 MW of backup power for the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, the venue for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The entire process, from the delivery of the six generator sets to their installation and commissioning, was completed in just one week.

Sports infrastructure ready for international competition

The Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat was completely rebuilt to meet the international standards required by the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as part of Morocco’s sports infrastructure modernisation plan.

This new venue, inaugurated in November 2025, has a capacity for 22,000 spectators, fully covered stands, LED lighting for high-definition broadcasts, giant video screens, state-of-the-art hybrid turf and modernised VIP areas. The stadium, the usual home ground of FUS Rabat, has established itself as one of the most advanced sports venues in the country.

3.6 MW solution to ensure operational continuity

The power solution, comprising six generator sets operating in parallel and with redundancy, has been designed to distribute the load evenly, adapt to fluctuations in demand and maintain system stability in critical applications such as stadium lighting, television broadcasts, security and the venue’s operational services.

The installation also complies with the French standards NFS 61-940 and NF E37-312, which are standard for emergency systems in public infrastructure and high-traffic buildings. Thanks to this architecture, the stadium can maintain its operations without interruption, even during sporting events attended by thousands of spectators.

Synchronisation and intelligent control

The solution incorporates DSE 8610 control modules, responsible for coordinating the synchronisation and advanced management of the generator sets. Thanks to this system, the six units can operate simultaneously in parallel and with redundancy, optimising load sharing and ensuring continuous power availability in a facility where there is no margin for interruption.

If one of the units goes out of service, the rest of the system automatically takes over the load, maintaining the supply without affecting the operation of the stadium’s critical systems.

Generator set configuration

The installed generation plant comprises six HIMOINSA units:

This configuration provides the operational flexibility required to adapt to the stadium’s varying demand levels, both during sporting events and in its day-to-day operations, whilst maintaining system redundancy and stability at all times.

Reliable energy solution for international sporting events

In a stadium prepared to host an international competition such as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the reliability of the power supply ceases to be a technical requirement and becomes an essential condition. Pitch lighting, television broadcasts, security, access points, and the general operation of the venue depend on an energy infrastructure capable of responding without margin for error.

Faced with this challenge, HIMOINSA Maroc has supplied and integrated a solution designed to always guarantee the stadium’s operational continuity, even during peaks in demand or potential grid failures. The project also had to be carried out within a particularly tight timeframe: the delivery, installation and commissioning of the six generator sets were completed in just one week, in a race against the clock to ensure the venue was ready for one of African football’s major events.

Beyond the installed power capacity, this project reflects HIMOINSA’s ability to respond with reliability, speed, and technical expertise in infrastructure where there is no room for disruption. Because when football demands the highest standards both on and off the pitch, the power supply must be equal to the occasion.
