  • HIMOINSA has supplied nearly 8 MW of emergency power to hospitals in Ain Benian and Reghaia, Algeria, using HGY series generators with Yanmar engines.

  • The generators are designed for mission-critical healthcare applications, offering rapid response times under eight seconds and reliable operation in harsh conditions.

  • Advanced soundproofing and thermal adaptations enable the generators to maintain performance despite high ambient temperatures exceeding 40°C.

  • A dual synchronized generator system with hot standby ensures continuous power supply, maximizing reliability and minimizing failure risk in critical hospital environments.

HIMOINSA supplies almost 4 MW of emergency power with Yanmar engines for the hospital located in the municipality of Ain Benian. At the same time, another project has been developed with other models with generator sets for the hospital located in Reghaia. Both projects generate a total of 8 MW of power in hospitals in Algeria.

HIMOINSA provides a reliable power solution for several hospitals in Algeria, in the towns of Reghaia and Ain Benian. Critical infrastructure such as healthcare facilities are vulnerable in this country. Specifically, hospitals require autonomous power systems capable of responding instantly to any power outage.

HIMOINSA has developed this project together with its local distributor Sarl Globale, ensuring the power autonomy of these healthcare centres with the HGY series, including two 2,500 kVA generator sets in Ain Benian, always ensuring continuity of care and capable of responding immediately in the event of simultaneous grid failures.

HGY Series | Advanced power solutions for the healthcare sector

The HGY series provides safe and efficient power solutions that enable continuous power supply to these critical services. HGY generators respond quickly and are designed to guarantee a response time of less than eight seconds and offer single-step load acceptance. The reliability and performance of HGY make it an indispensable choice for ensuring safety and efficiency in healthcare environments.

The HGY-2350 D5 PRP generator sets installed at Ain Benian Hospital are equipped with high-performance Yanmar engines, developed specifically for mission-critical applications such as hospital environments. Their high-pressure electronic injection technology enables a fast and stable response, ensuring immediate start-up and load acceptance in the event of a power failure.

In addition to offering excellent performance with optimised consumption, Yanmar engines are characterised by their operational reliability even in demanding conditions, such as high temperatures or prolonged duty cycles. Their robust design and extended maintenance intervals reduce technical interventions, thus ensuring constant power availability.

Acoustic and soundproofing solution for extreme temperatures

The weather in Algeria, especially in coastal areas such as Reghaia and Ain Benian, is characterised by long, dry summers with temperatures exceeding 40°C during the hottest months. This situation poses a significant challenge for power plant operations, as high air temperatures can cause power losses in thermal engines, a phenomenon known as derating.

Both projects require extreme soundproofing, with a maximum noise level of 75 dB(A) at 1 metre, as well as advanced thermal adaptation. The usual ambient temperature in the region has required the installation of electric radiators capable of operating at 50°C, ensuring the nominal performance of the equipment. This adaptation ensures that HIMOINSA's generator sets can operate at maximum efficiency and without load drops, regardless of the external thermal stress.

With a total installed power of 8 MW in the two hospitals in Reghaia and Ain Benian, this project consolidates HIMOINSA's position as a leading supplier in critical hospital applications thanks to the HGY series in North Africa. The choice of the HGY range, capable of reaching up to 4,000 kVA per unit, demonstrates the customer's confidence in high-power solutions, maximum reliability and total system control.

Advanced synchronisation for immediate backup

Both facilities have been designed according to an operating philosophy that guarantees continuity of care through a system of two synchronised emergency generators, one main and one backup. On a day-to-day basis, the hospital operates connected to the main grid; if this fails, the system automatically switches to the secondary grid. If this fails or both mains generator networks are not operating, the backup generator is started up.

Given that the hospital's total load does not exceed the capacity of a single generator, the system is programmed to keep one of the units on active standby – hot standby. Once the load has stabilised, one of the units is disconnected, remaining available to take over the supply in the event of a failure of the operational generator.

HIMOINSA has developed this scheme in conjunction with the generator control unit supplier DEIF, and in accordance with the technical requirements of the specifications, it maximises system availability and minimises the probability of failure during start-up or transfer.

In Ain Benian, HIMOINSA has supplied two HGY-2350 D5 PRP units, high-performance models from the HGY range, specially designed for mission-critical environments. The supply also includes a CC19 synchronisation cabinet, configured according to the single-line diagram defined in the project.

Their commissioning in Algeria not only consolidates HIMOINSA's presence on the African continent, but also demonstrates the technological maturity and operational reliability of the HGY series in environments where continuity of supply leaves no room for error. In a sector where power saves lives, HIMOINSA provides power and responsibility.
