A Tiger and a Cougar on the Guanghzou metro lines

Several Soilmec Hydromill units of Cougar and Tiger line have been involved in the construction of the Guanghzou metro lines: two SC-135 Tiger have been used in the foundation works for the new Panyu Square Station for the metro line 18 project.

This was a very demanding job site for the Soilmec hydromills and it is precisely here that the ground revealed its hardest layer: 18 ÷ 20 meters of weak weathered granite with a hardness of 80-130 MPa. The SC-135 Tigers had to face 40000 m2 of diaphragm walls by cutting these rocks for every panel.

The sturdy design of the module together with the high torque hydraulic motor for direct driving the cutting wheels (hard rock type), have assured the performances required by the job site and the DMS system has allowed the precise control of the module during excavation.

SC-135 Tiger and SC-130 Tiger, involved in the largest Europe transport project works

Two Soilmec hydromills, namely, the SC-135 Tiger and SC-130 Tiger, are involved in execution of the works for the Grand Paris Express, which is the largest transport project in Europe. With four new metro lines stretching over 200 km of additional tracks and 68 new stations, the Grand Paris Express routes will serve 2 million passengers every day and provide connections with the Paris airports, industrial and business districts and research clusters.

Both Tiger models are being employed to build the underground walls of the future hSaint Denis Pleyel station; they are currently excavating diaphragm wall panels that are 55 m deep, with a thickness of 1.8 m or 1.5 m. This metrostation, with its surface area of 9000 mq, will be among the largest ones of the Grand Paris network.

Today, the SC-135 and SC-130 Tiger rigs are much appreciated thanks to their unique blend of performances and technological solutions. Customers highly value the advantage of having a powerful and reliable rig at the same time.

The mostly appreciated features of the two hydromills employed in the Grand Paris job sites are the possibility to perform T-panels with a 90° module rotation, the high-precision verticality control and the data production recording through the DMS Control System.

Soilmec SC135 Tiger employed in the most spectacular high-rise buildings project ever being built in Germany

The Soilmec hydromill SC135 Tiger is currently being employed for executing the works under the Four Frankfurt project. This project, that is located in the Bankenviertel central business district, involves the biggest job site in Frankfurt. In particular, it includes the construction of four high-rise buildings - with a height ranging from 228 meters to 100 meters - that are connected to one another by a multi-storey plinth and an underground car park.

The foundation works include the execution of a diaphragm wall and piles. The former surrounds the entire project area with depths varying between 28 and 42 meters, due to the forces exerted on the excavation by the nearby skyscrapers.

Different rigs are being employed for the execution of the diaphragm wall, according to the type of soil to be treated: mechanical grabs are used for clay layers while the Soilmec SC-135 Tiger is employed for dense layers of rock. The employment of a hydromill able to combine power and agility at the same time is essential when many rigs are at work and when they need to be constantly moved between the trenches.

The SC-135 Tiger is able to satisfy all these requirements thanks to its sturdy squared boom, which is faster and more flexible than a lattice boom.
