New propulsion units
Over 100 powerful, new engines released for AC specialists
Modern agriculture requires high-performance yet ‘clean’ and compact machines. In recent years, efforts by Antonio Carraro’s R&D department have been focusing on finding solutions to retain the compact dimensions typical of AC tractors while increasing the power of the engine.
The answer was provided by the introduction of a new F28 engine by the manufacturer FPT, ‘FIAT – POWER – TRAIN’, which came up with a solution to meet the needs of contemporary agriculture in the form of compact dimensions and down-sizing.
The F28 series is the latest generation of engines that is renowned worldwide not only for its power and reliability, but also for its environmental friendliness. These are state-of-the-art engines, equipped with anti-pollution technologies, whose effectiveness meets the most stringent exhaust emissions standards.
The new engines will be assembled from 2025 on all models in the Cento series and the R series based on the following allocations:
Designation 8200 > engine 55 kW - 74.8 hp 4-cylinder turbo intercooler common rail > for the CENTO Series
Designation 11200 > engine 75.6 kW -103 hp - 4-cylinder turbo intercooler common rail > for the R Series
The 11200 propulsion unit engine is an outstanding achievement for the company, which, for the first time in its history, is able to provide vehicles with over 100 hp, nimble, compact and fully compliant with Stage V regulations.
News on the electric range
SRe – the new concept of a mechanical-electric hybrid tractor
Two years after its launch, Life Atena is now bearing its first fruit. The project, which involves not only Antonio Carraro but also two exceptional partners, ERO GmbH and the supervisory syndicate Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG, aims to develop new technologies to improve the environmental impact of agricultural vehicles in terms of reducing polluting emissions, preventing the dispersion of lubricants onto the ground and reducing noise pollution. The challenge is to ensure that the technical performance of today’s tractors remains as unaltered as possible, while exploiting the potential and flexibility provided by electrification.
SRe is the first official deliverable of the Life Atena project and is the result of a presentation at Eima 2022 of the two prototypes SRX Hybrid and eSP. SRe delivers an even more ambitious project in that it is a full electric machine with the most exclusive features of AC tractors – compact, isodiametric, reversible and articulated.
This novel concept tractor takes its cue from the real needs of modern end-users, who are environmentally conscious but unwilling to sacrifice performance and operational comfort. Keeping the ACTIO™ articulated chassis, a feature common to all AC vehicles, and the Category 4 pressurised cab with air conditioning, the SRe is a fully redesigned tractor, beginning with the transmission.
Two electric motors propel the vehicle – the first (50 kW - 68 hp) directly drives the four-speed mechanical transmission, providing optimum speed control and ensuring peak torque at all times, while the second (35 kW - 48 hp) manages the power take-off and all the machine’s small utilities. The motors are powered by a 38 kW/h battery pack with a voltage of 400 V, which can be recharged from the mains or from a charging station with a category 2 connection.
The striking, innovative feature of this tractor is that it is, to all intents and purposes, a continuously variable machine, where the speed and PTO are fully controlled by a highly efficient electric propulsion unit, which delivers the same performance as a 100 hp tractor but with zero environmental impact.
SRe is equally suited for use with conventional as well as newly developed electrified equipment. It is fitted with a rear power lift with three-point Category 1 and 2 hitch, 540/540E PTO, proportional joystick for hydraulic equipment and power socket for electric equipment with a maximum power output of 10 kW.
The Infinity Series
The very latest AC designs for precision processing with technical solutions continue to gain popularity with the Infinity Series models, compact tractors with hydrostatic transmission and reversible drive. At Eima 2024, the spotlight will be on the TR 5800 Infinity model.
The Infinity transmission
Operation with no limits
The Infinity transmission is the common thread running through the range – it enables work to be carried out in both directions at the same speeds – from 0-15 with the mechanical working range and from 0-40 km/h with the mechanical road range. Each mechanical range is equipped with 3 hydraulic ranges, which can be engaged manually or in automatic transmission mode, with no loss of traction. The travel pedal also assists in braking on slopes, stopping the vehicle when it is released, even when the brakes are not applied. Cruise Control (or Tempomat), Limit RPM, Intellifix, Drive Mode, Fast Reverse and Uniflex suspension allow the operator to always find the right set-up for the job. On the Infinity models, the clutch is only used for initiating motion and acts as a safety device in the event that the vehicle needs to be stopped instantly. The electro-hydraulic reverser on the steering wheel is exceptionally practical for forward/reverse manoeuvring, even those of a repetitive nature, without using the clutch. The brakes are virtually redundant since the accelerator pedal not only controls forward travel but also decelerates the tractor to a standstill – the entire transmission is controlled using the accelerator pedal alone.
TR 5800 Infinity
A promise made is a promise kept
Presented for the first time at Eima 2022, the all-rounder par excellence from the Padua-based company has finally entered production.
TR 5800 Infinity is an isodiametric machine with an unprecedented 52 hp. Reversible with steered wheels, this remarkable tractor is notable for its compact dimensions, a selection of different types of tyres, and software-controlled, on-board electronics. It is available in a ‘Standard’ version and a ‘Plus’ version, enhanced by several optional extras that further expand its potential. It is an extremely manoeuvrable and easy-to-use tractor. The innovative, high-performance hydraulic system allows control of all sorts of equipment, even those ordinarily considered to be beyond the scope of the traditional 50 hp hydrostatic units available on the market. Its perfectly balanced weight makes it ideal for both agricultural and civil use, even in snow and on rough terrain.
It is also available with a RedCab on request.
The TONY Series
In the spotlight at Eima 2024 will be the TONY V models in the 8700 and 11700 versions with conventional, mono-directional chassis, the TONY 8900 SR, isodiametric, articulated and reversible, the TONY 8900 TTR, isodiametric, reversible, with steered wheels and wide track, the Mach 4 TONY quad-track and, of course, the TONY 8900 TRG, Finalist Tractor of the Year. The entire TONY range features a software-controlled mechanical-hydrostatic hybrid transmission.
TONY Transmission
The embodiment of modern farming
TONY mechanical-hydrostatic hybrid transmission sets the standard in cutting-edge AC production. Managed by software and equipped with SIM – Shift In Motion technology, it provides 4 electronically controlled speed ranges, switchable from standstill or on the move. It is a compact transmission with automatic features controlled by the ITAC (Intelligent Tractor AC) operating system, such as Tractor Management Control (TMC) which simplifies driver operations. Centralised control designed to ensure the tractor constantly works in optimal conditions in terms of savings and productivity. The system provides several functions, including maintaining parameters while working even during changes in slope, uphill or downhill. All the safety and monitoring systems of the tractor’s diagnostics for the vehicle’s scheduled maintenance “run” inside the ITAC. The operator can set, customise and save the parameters of each job, calling up the preselected combinations when necessary and making any changes during the various stages, based on soil variability and crop type. The speed is independent of the engine revs: both can be separately programmed. The speed ranges go from 100 m/h to up to 40 km/h.
TONY 8900 TRG
The star
Finalist in the prestigious Tractor of the Year 2025 competition, the new hydrostatic model in the TONY series features different wheel sizes, a rigid chassis and reversible steering.
It is available in two configurations:
-
With standard reduction gear, rear wheels of up to 24 inches and front wheels of up to 20 inches, providing the vehicle with superior traction and ground clearance for nimble operation in orchards, on uneven terrain, even with high crop residues.
-
With lowered reduction gear which, by lowering the tractor’s centre of gravity, ensures comfort and stability when working under foliage or on slopes.
TONY 8900 TRG, equipped with a 72.4 hp, Stage V engine, combines, like no other AC model, strength, stability, compactness and accuracy in operation.
On-board comfort is further enhanced by the optionally available AIR cab, featuring a spacious, comfortable driver’s seat for a large, liveable operating space.
TONY V
The specialist in narrow vineyards
This AC model combines tradition and innovation in a conventional, mono-directional chassis and cabbed tractor equipped with Tony’s unique hybrid mechanical-hydrostatic transmission.
Two engines, the 75 hp and 110 hp, direct-injection diesel from the prestigious Deutz brand, will be on show at Eima. These are the very latest generation of engines, custom-designed for specialist agricultural use, where high levels of torque are required from the lowest revs, while delivering extraordinarily linear power.
TONY 8700 V and TONY 11700 V are versatile tractors, ideal for orchards, where working with rear, front and mid-mount equipment, even in combination, is required. The minimum width of only 980 mm, the wheelbase of 2095 mm for the 8700 model and 2175 mm for the 11700 model, and the bodywork with no overhang makes these vehicles nimble between rows, where manoeuvrability and trajectory accuracy are crucial.
The Air V cab in Category 2, or pressurised in Category 4, and FOPS and ROPS approved comes as standard on all TONY V models. Mounted on silent-blocks, it is roomy and equipped with every comfort, including automatic climate control. On-board access is effortless with its low centre of gravity and narrow centre tunnel. The driving position allows full visibility of the equipment while the powerful LED working lights, built into the cab roof, provide excellent visibility at night.
New suspended axle
On display at Eima, the TONY 11700 V features a unique front axle suspension known as the EveryLand Axle, an item that improves ergonomics and comfort in all working scenarios.
This optional accessory, which has an extension of approx. 40 mm in height, is indispensable in alleviating vibrations resulting from uneven ground or pitching on roads.
The ELA features three operating set-ups:
-
Manual – the operator decides at what height to set the axle. This feature is handy when fitting equipment.
-
Locked – the axle is locked in place. This setting meets the needs of certain processing operations in the field.
-
Automatic – the suspension adjusts automatically depending on the load. This mode ensures optimum shock absorption.
The A Series
Back to the roots, but looking towards the future
The introduction of the new A Series has made it possible for Antonio Carraro to extend its product range by catering also to the needs of farmers who operate in specialist farming environments that are flatter but need vehicles with special qualities and that are able to move around in confined spaces. The A Series consists of no fewer than 6 models that can be configured in 48 different basic set-ups.
Two models from the AF range specifically designed for orchards will be on display at Eima 2024: AF 2.100 N, standard orchard and AF 2.85 B, low orchard. Both versions are powered by the 4-cylinder 2.8 l FPT F28, Stage V calibrated at 100 hp for the 2.100 N model and 75 hp for the 2.85 B model.
AF N is available with or without a cab. The minimum overall width is 1,544 mm, while the wheelbase measures 2,154 mm.
The AF-B model was designed with no cab. In this case the wheelbase is 2,105 mm and the height at the bonnet is 1,353. The overall width of this model begins at 1,532 mm.
