BSA presents new pump tanker “155L Premiumline”

New: Increased tongue load thanks to a two-chamber system and user-friendly control

The pump tanker “155L Premiumline” from BSA, a company of the Bauer Group, is specially designed for use with trailing shoe technology. The tanker features a 32 t four-spring unit as well as braking and steering axles with 420x180 wheel brakes. However, the heart of the pump tanker is the BSA eccentric screw pump Ex 350/150, a further development of the BSA pump series that has proven itself for decades. Traditionally, the stators and rotors for BSA eccentric screw pumps are manufactured directly in the BSA plant in Marktschorgast, Bavaria.

The most valuable part of every eccentric screw pump is the smoothly running hollow shaft rotor, which is manufactured in a special process and is absolutely unbreakable. Tough tool steel and the uniformly thick wall (8 mm) prevent heat build-up and stress cracks. A coating applied in the final manufacturing step hardens and smooths the surface. This process also has a critical influence on the lifespan of the rubber stator element since a smooth rotor surface produces significantly lower abrasive wear. The low weight of the smoothly running hollow rotor means quiet operation at practically all speeds.

With an output of approximately 360 m³/h, the pump Ex 350/150 ensures rapid filling of the PTW 155L via the centrally attached suction arm with 200 mm diameter. The suction arm is designed for suction on both sides. It is only necessary to switch the hydraulic cylinder connection and rotate the suction elbow.

Increased tongue load thanks to two-chamber system

Especially in hilly terrain, it is best to have sufficient tongue load on the tractor while driving uphill. This is achieved by means of the two-chamber system. The front third of the tank is separated by a welded intervening wall, with an opening in the lower area.

This chamber is equipped with separate ventilation. If the tank is completely full, only the rear portion is ventilated during spreading so that it empties. The front chamber remains filled, increasing the tongue load. When the rear chamber has emptied far enough that the level falls below the opening in the intervening wall, the front chamber is also ventilated and emptied as well. Each chamber has its own sight tube for checking the system.

Slurry applicator with partial width operation

The slurry is distributed by a trailing shoe applicator with an operating width of 15 meters. The specially shaped trailing shoes of stainless steel open up the crops and deposit the slurry directly on the ground. The applicator features partial width operation, allowing either side to be switched off. If a side slider is closed, an impulse is sent to the three-way tap that controls the distribution, which moves to a middle position so that only approximately half the slurry is fed into the distribution system. The remaining slurry supplied by the pump is pumped back into the tank. This means that only half the slurry volume is distributed when using half the operating width.

Safe control

The pump tanker is operated with a classic user-friendly control that is equipped with a sequential control. After executing the fold-out function, which must take place in a deliberate and controlled manner, all other distribution functions are automatically engaged. In other words, the three-way tap is opened and the Exacut distributors in the side arms start up. When the spreading is finished, the components are deactivated in reverse order. The folding-in must again be performed manually, since this process cannot be automated for safety reasons.

The pump tanker 155L has wheel cutouts and plastic mud guards. In addition to the hot-dip galvanization, a special coating in ultramarine blue is applied, which is very easy to clean thanks to its smooth surface. The tanker is also available in window grey and traffic green.
