CLAAS presents the new LEXION 600 range

CLAAS has given the proven LEXION 600 range an overhaul and for 2017 will be offering new models with added advanced features. These include, among other things, Mercedes-Benz engines on all models, a new straw chopper, a mechanical radial spreader and the AUTO SLOPE and AUTO CLEANING CEMOS AUTOMATIC functions.

The LEXION 670–620 range is comprised of three 6-walker machines with a drum width of 1,700 mm and two 5-walker models with a drum width of 1,420 mm. The 670 and 630 models are also available in the MONTANA hillside variant with a levelling mechanism.

High performance with low consumption

The new LEXION 600 models are all equipped with Mercedes-Benz engines, which are characterized by their optimal power delivery and low consumption. On the LEXION 650-630 models, the 6-cylinder engines have a cubic capacity of 7.7 l, while on the largest LEXION 670 and 660, the engines have a cubic capacity of 10.7 l with power outputs of 435 HP and 408 HP respectively.

In addition, the 10.7-litre engines on the 670 and 660 models are fitted with the CLAAS DYNAMIC COOLING cooling system, which is a feature also found in all CLAAS LEXION 700 models. The integrated cooling system, located behind the engine, automatically adjusts the cooling capacity as required by the engine, thereby making it particularly fuel-efficient. The specially designed air ducting prevents the build-up of dust. The radiator takes in air from above and then pushes this forwards towards the engine as well as out and down to the side of the combine. Combined with an automatic dust extraction system, the cleaning intervals for the DYNAMIC COOLING system are significantly longer.

Perfect straw management under all conditions

The new straw chopper housing, which has been expanded by 50 mm, ensures that the chopped straw is distributed evenly and consistently. Thanks to this larger diameter, the chopped material can be accelerated more rapidly, thereby enabling better distribution. The ability to control the straw chopper's counter-blade and rasp bar from the cab means greater comfort for the operator. In all new LEXION 600 models, the straw chopper's swath can be easily changed from the cab by simply pushing a button.

In addition to this, the new 670, 660 and 650 LEXION models are available with a new radial spreader, which is mechanically powered and characterised by its highly efficient power transmission. As well as lower fuel consumption, mechanical operation also ensures that the spreading rotors maintain a constant speed, so that the straw is evenly distributed under all conditions. The new radial spreader is combined with the capability to adjust the direction in which the straw is spread and automatically corrects the distribution of the straw in adverse conditions such as crosswind or when harvesting on slopes.

Cleaner harvest on any terrain

The LEXION 600 range's CLAAS AUTO SLOPE system also guarantees the cleanest possible grain and minimal losses on uneven terrain. AUTO SLOPE automatically controls the fan speed and continuously adjusts the speed according to the angle of the combine harvester in the field. This means that the air blast is automatically reduced when working uphill in order to avoid losses. The speed is increased when travelling downhill to ensure that the grain is cleaned sufficiently.

AUTO CLEANING, which has already proven its worth in the LEXION 700 range, makes life even easier for the operator and ensures the cleanest possible grain. As well as controlling the fan speed, the system also provides fully automatic control of the opening of the upper and lower sieves. This is achieved through the use of numerous sensors which permanently record the combine harvester's greatest varying values and adjust the necessary settings to match the current conditions with split-second accuracy.

LEXION 660, now available with the TERRA TRAC track roller unit

Following on from the LEXION 670, CLAAS is now also making available the LEXION 660 model with the compaction reducing TERRA TRAC track roller unit. The track unit's drive wheel, land wheel and supporting rollers have hydropneumatic suspension, which provides optimal comfort for the operator. With tracks measuring 635 mm, the total width of the combine harvester remains less than 3.49 m.

All new models from the LEXION 600 range will be available for the 2017 harvest season.
