CM Labs Simulations, the leading vendor of simulation-based training solutions in the ports industry, today announced an expanded technology platform, custom services, and digital twin capabilities for port original equipment manufacturers and technology partners. CM Labs will showcase its OEM technology offerings at TOC Europe 2026, May 19 to 21, taking place at Hamburg Messe und Congress in Hamburg, Germany at booths #E38 and #E40.

Through Vortex® Studio, CM Labs’ engineering-grade simulation development platform, port equipment OEMs and technology partners can build high-fidelity digital twins of their machines, systems, and operational environments. The platform enables users to integrate real hardware controls, test operational scenarios, and develop machine-specific simulation applications tailored to their equipment and customer workflows.

Combined with CM Labs’ custom services and ports domain expertise, the platform gives manufacturers a faster path from concept to deployable solution.

CM Labs’ latest work with Kaleris and Stinis demonstrates this OEM model in practice. In its work with the Kaleris N4 terminal operating system, CM Labs is connecting terminal logic with equipment simulation. Separately, CM Labs is collaborating with Stinis to build a digital twin of the company’s tandem headblock spreader, replicating its mechanics and operational characteristics using the Vortex Studio platform.

“CM Labs’ core simulation technology gives OEMs the flexibility to customize environments to their exact equipment and operating conditions. Combined with deep ports domain expertise built over years through both CM Labs and GlobalSim, that core technology allows us to partner with OEMs and bring credible, machine-specific solutions to market faster than they could build on their own,” said Lisa Barbieri, VP of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships at CM Labs.

Port equipment manufacturers face a growing expectation from terminal customers: deliver not just machines, but the means to train operators on those machines safely and precisely. As terminals invest in remote operations, larger cranes, specialized handling equipment, and increasingly connected terminal systems, the gap between what operators need to know and what traditional training can teach continues to widen.

CM Labs’ OEM offering is built on three pillars:

  • The first is Vortex Studio itself, CM Labs’ core simulation technology platform for creating, deploying, and validating high-fidelity, real-time mechanical simulations across training, engineering, and automation. CM Labs uses the platform to create digital twins that replicate how specific equipment performs, including custom control configurations, equipment mechanics, and operational workflows.

  • The second is custom services, which involves a team of simulation and mechanical engineers who work directly with OEMs to scope, build, integrate, and deliver custom training solutions.

  • The third is ports domain expertise, drawn from CM Labs’ combined engineering teams, including specialists from the GlobalSim acquisition, who bring deep operational knowledge of quayside and yardside terminal environments. This expertise, built on CM Labs’ company history and its broad experience across industries from subsea to space, ensures that simulation applications reflect a wide range of equipment and real terminal operations.

“What makes this different from other approaches is that our core technology handles the hardest engineering problems, including machine dynamics, load physics, environmental forces, and real-time system behavior. That gives OEMs a foundation for building digital twins and simulation applications that reflect how their equipment actually performs, instead of relying on a generic approximation,” said Danial Alizadeh, Chief Product Officer at CM Labs.
