We have gathered the initial impressions of customers who tested the new Fassi SmartApp System. Positive opinions that confirm the validity of the system and yet another winning intuition by Fassi Gru
Fassi SmartApp is an integrated system of data reading and collection in real time that can carry out remote diagnostics on crane operation and is compatible with the Android system. Through its use, crane capabilities can be optimized through perfect knowledge of utilization statistics and maintenance times.
The Radio Remote Control section displays the reaction thresholds of the remote control, with the possibility to change its sensitivity: the main booms can be set by adjusting the response of the control levers: simply change the working curves of the individual elements. By doing so, you can adapt, in remote, the sensitivity of the controls to the operator’s individual needs.
The Black Box key is not just a log of the operations carried out, as it can also be used as to communicate with the Fassi assistance network.
Analyzing and evaluating the utilization statistics of the crane helps to better understand its use and also allows the scheduling and management of maintenance costs, with better performances for a longer time.
Moreover, should the crane suddenly stop working, the Geo-Locator function finds the nearest service centre and, through the Black Box, the remote diagnostics procedure is activate, storing data in a file that can be sent to Fassi’s service department through an e-mail from a smartphone, thus providing accurate and correct information about the detected malfunctions in order to schedule a quick service call.
Thanks to the user-friendly menu, it is easy to access the various sections, switching with just a few touches from the collection of data, which is also displayed in graph form for quick reference, to the controls adjustment section. Moreover, certain crane functions can be activated from the smartphone, such as the XP, as well as vehicle functions such turning the engine and off and changing the engine speed.
This system originates from the Human Machine Interface (HMI) philosophy, to confirm the constant push towards innovation by Fassi’s R&D Department.
Below the comments made by the first customers who had the chance to use the Fassi SmartApp System.
Johan Jansson is the owner of Askwin Transport AB, a Swedish trucking company that tried the SmartApp in combination with a Fassi F455RA.2.26 e-dynamic crane.
“The Radio Remote Control function that displays the sensitivity of the remote control in order to adjust the response of the levers from a distance was the feature that we appreciated the most: when we have to carry out accurate jobs, we prefer “softer” levers, while for repetitive jobs we need more “reactive” intervals. We then simulated the use of the Black Box function as well as the download with data transfer by e-mail, and everything went smoothly, just like the check of the Geo-Locator function. We were also extremely satisfied with the usability of the Fassi application, in line with the standards of the best Apps. We are now using the system especially to activate the XP device, while we rarely get to use it to turn the vehicle on or off. Although we don’t mind using it when we want to impress our customers!”
Marco Lanza, owner of the PFT Srl company based in Carrara, uses a crane similar to the one used by the Swedish entrepreneur, in this case a Fassi F455RA.2.25+L324 e-dynamic with lifting capacity of 39.96 t/m and 24-m hydraulic extension. His company operates in the sector of transportation and material handling services (for example, roof maintenance) as a contractor.
“I really appreciated the possibility to interact with the crane through a smartphone, especially since I can have a log of crane use and consequently control over my employees’ doings, also for purposes of billing the final customer. The operators have told me that what they appreciate the most is the possibility to change the sensitivity of the levers, as well as being able to turn on the XP device in remote”.
Mr. Brynsholm is a Norwegian who installed a Fassi F1300RAFM.2.28 e-dynamic crane, with lifting capacity of 90.62 t/m and 20-m hydraulic extension, on a boat.
“We often use the Radio Remote Control for jobs where control of the movements is crucial, otherwise we prefer a more “reactive” adjustment of the levers”. We have gotten into the habit of often checking the utilization statistics of the crane, in order to verify our work and the operating times to which the main crane components are subjected. When we are out to sea, on the other hand, we cannot use the Geo-Locator functions: at any rate, the dealer always comes to us for any maintenance that may be needed on the crane. In return, we are extremely satisfied with the simple menu used to access the different sections, it is a very user-friendly application. We sometimes also use the system to turn on the XP device in remote but, quite honestly, since we are on a boat and consequently in direct contact with the crane, we find it easier to turn on this function in a traditional manner”.
