June sale attracts high turnout of first time German buyers

German buyers dominated the recent construction and agricultural machinery sale held in Dormagen, Germany, by Europe’s leading auction specialists, Euro Auctions. Such is the shift in how the market in central Europe now buys and sells used, quality machinery, German buyers and sellers were evident and the top buyers on the day.
From the well-established auction site in Dormagen, Euro Auctions reports another record sale.
3,700 pieces of new and quality used construction and agricultural machinery were sold, without reserve, with a total hammer price of €17.5 million showing an increase of 35% over the sale in June 2018. Again, this is the biggest auction sale to-date in Dormagen.
Euro Auctions is breaking records at every sale, with this sale being no exception. In comparison to the same auction in June 2018, significant increases in all areas were achieved.

“In the past 13 years since we launched Euro Auctions in Dormagen, we have seen perceptions change. Thirteen years ago, selling used machinery at auction was a new concept, with buyers hesitant, and preferring to purchase new machinery from registered dealers. But now, Euro Auctions has demonstrated that an auction offers excellent opportunities to both buyer and seller” comments Erik Kortum, Euro Auctions’ country manager for Germany. “We have gained the trust of the German and mid European consignors and buyers, and we continue to see substantial growth in the number of attendees at all sales, the increase in registrations, the number of bidders, and the total of online sales.
The largest number of buyers are from the German market, representing over 30% of all equipment bought, followed by buyers from Netherlands, and Poland. We also experienced great interest from the rest of mainland Europe, in addition to a lot of interest from buyers in the Middle East and North Africa.”
Erik Kortum continues “Over 1,000 bidders registered for this sale. 68% of all buyers were on the internet, a massive increase over June 2018, where internet bids were only 37% of total sales.
We market to over 200,000 global buyers and sellers, located in 190 countries, so the Euro Auctions, Dormagen sale, attracts a growing number of international machinery buyers and we are confident that we willcontinue to attract new bidders from across Germany and Europe. We are also seeing returning customers as they acquire top specification machines; confident that their purchases will be reliable, affordable, whilst fulfilling their needs.”
