Hustler announces a no-nonsense bale feeder for farmers who want Hustler dependability without the bells and whistles

The new SL300X is a machine simply designed to do all the basics brilliantly. That’s the word from Hustler Equipment following the introduction of the company’s latest bale feeder.

The SL300X replaces the popular SL350 model, slotting in at number 2 in Hustler’s three-point linkage chain bale feeder line-up, just behind the flagship SL360X.

“The SL350 was a real winner for us, but we identified a need for a work horse feeder that performs the everyday tasks well, but doesn’t have the full range of features,” says Hustler’s Brent Currie.

“For the design team working on the SL300X, it’s been a case of nice-to-have versus need-to-have.”

The result is a feeder that is functional and versatile. Here’s a snapshot of what to expect:

  1. Three-point linkage and loader ready. A new headstock design with bolt-on brackets allows the SL300X to be mounted on the front or rear of a tractor or loader. It can also be offset to allow more tyre clearance when feeding into bunks or troughs.

  1. High mounted dual connection latches eliminate twisting and allow the feeder to handle heavier bales up to 1250kg by connecting directly to the feeding cradle, taking the load off the bale spears.

  1. The toughest bars and chain on the market. Bullet proof roller chains with largest diameter rollers reduce wear and stretch, and with huge RHS galvanized bars providing more torsional strength will last the lifetime of the feeder. Bars are bolted to the chain to create a stronger, easily replaceable system.

  1. A tough new thermoform fully enclosed polyethylene floor that’s non-corrosive, impervious to UV, slippery and shock resistant now covers the drive shafts, to eliminate any silage build up or wrapping of the shafts.

  1. Low maintenance. Fully sealed block bearings are mounted externally to keep them clean and away from damaging acidic silage juices. The only maintenance required is the greasing of four nipples.

While the SL300X has been designed with simplicity in mind, don’t think for a moment there have been any compromises on the build quality that has earned Hustler a reputation for making the toughest bale feeders on the market.

Brent Currie says the launch of the SL300X is a continuation of Hustler’s strategy to make Hustler available to farmers at a range of price points while ensuring every machine has the same Hustler DNA.

“We’re about finding new ways to feed animals faster and more efficiently. All our bale feeders are low maintenance and simple to use. And we stand by our products with a 4 Year Warranty.”

The new SL300X officially launches on 17/04/17.
