Ingersoll-Rand plc, a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, today announced the completion of its Asia Pacific Engineering and Technology Center expansion in Taicang, Jiangsu Province in China.

The expansion doubles the size of the center, creating one of the largest and most advanced engineering and technology facilities for Ingersoll Rand. It places Ingersoll Rand in a stronger leadership position in the field of research and development (R&D) across the region. The expanded center will accelerate the speed to market with heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) technologies in the Asia Pacific region of Ingersoll Rand.

Ingersoll Rand’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Michael W. Lamach, and the company’s senior leadership team joined today’s inauguration ceremony.

“Having the capability to meet our customers ‘where they are’ is extremely important,” Lamach said. “We are confident that this investment in our Taicang operations – and in China and the Asia Pacific region – will allow us to serve our customers more quickly and efficiently.”

Over the next three years, the center will also play a strong part in identifying more ways for Ingersoll Rand products to meet more Asian countries’ regulatory codes. This will significantly strengthen the leadership and core competency of the company’s two main HVAC brands —Trane and Thermo King – while attracting more talent to join its R&D teams.

“This expansion empowers the people of our engineering and technology center to be more flexible with innovation in the Asia Pacific region,” said Jason Sun, vice president and general manager of the center. “It also provides stronger R&D support to our business development in the region as well as to other Ingersoll Rand business units in the rest of the world.

“In particular, it will enhance Ingersoll Rand’s comprehensive R&D strengths in the HVAC area by providing a higher level of advanced technology and innovative products to more customers.”

In addition to housing more laboratories and testing areas, the lab expansion also contains a visitors’ center that will improve the customer experience and provide education about the company’s R&D capabilities.
