Johnston hosts handover of IMechE's manifesto to promote Engineering

IMechE, the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, visited the factory recently to officially handover its Engineering manifesto to Sir Paul Beresford, MP for Mole Valley.

The manifesto sets out a series of actions IMechE are planning to raise the profile of Engineering and to encourage more people to take up careers in the profession.  It starts with promoting understanding in primary schools, among both pupils and teachers, and also includes delivering better career advice in schools, developing student fees incentives for university courses and working with industry to support engineering and mentoring engineers through to chartered status.

As one of the largest engineering firms in the local area, Johnston strongly supports these initiatives and is pleased to support IMechE in lobbying parliament to push its proposals forward, so we were delighted to host the manifesto handover at our factory.
