Kärcher MIC 50 medium-weight implement carrier

For cities and local authorities

Kärcher developed its new MIC 50 implement carrier with the needs of municipal depots and local authority service providers uppermost in mind. The vehicle can be fitted with numerous accessories and five alternative attachments that enable it to cope with winter services as reliably and easily as park and garden maintenance, street and path cleaning or transporting materials. The MIC 50 can thus be used all year round, which makes it especially economical to operate.

Attachment kits can be fixed firmly to the front or rear of the vehicle frame. Snow blowers, snow blades or mowing decks that have to be raised or lowered repeatedly are fitted to hydraulic lifts at the front and rear. The mounting interface on the motor housing is intended for large-volume accessories such as automatic gritters or containers. A quick-change system for the hydraulic unit facilitates assembly. Vehicle parts that require servicing are also easy to reach. Side panels on the drive unit that fold up without the use of tools enable uncomplicated access.

An improved cab shape with large windows ensures that the driver has a very good view of the working area at all times. This and the ergonomic design of the driver’s platform provide a high degree of safety even during extended and strenuous deployment. Self-explanatory symbols make handling simple and easy to learn. The individual controls for the drive, working hydraulics, assistance system and implement operation are clearly arranged in groups on the dashboard. A propos controls: articulated steering ensures good manoeuvrability and directional stability, while the long wheelbase in combination with a low centre of gravity ensures very smooth running even when the vehicle is travelling quickly to the site of deployment.

With an empty weight of just 1,600 kg, even when fitted with heavy implements the machine stays below the 3.5 t limit, which determines both the class of driver’s licence required and suitability for use on pavements. The good unladen weight to load capacity ratio is also advantageous when operating on paths that are less able to take heavy loads, and for careful park and garden maintenance.

MIC 50 – engineering at a glance
• Vehicle has an especially low centre of gravity for good slope efficiency but can clear 180 mm kerbs
• Powerful 50 hp motor with high torque over the entire rpm range
• Up to 80 % of motor capacity can be made available for hydraulic output
• Permanent hydrostatic four-wheel drive with constant hydraulic traction control, additional hydraulic differential lock possible
