  • Komatsu introduces the WA170M-11 compact wheel loader with two loader linkage options, including the new Tool Linkage kinematics for enhanced versatility.

  • The machine underwent an extended 500-hour testing program with customer collaboration to optimize performance and reliability.

  • Operators praised the WA170M-11 for its stability, spacious cabin, excellent visibility, and intuitive operation.

  • Since its market launch in April 2025, the loader has received strong customer interest and orders, powered by a 96 kW Stage V diesel engine suitable for diverse tasks.

Komatsu has equipped its latest compact wheel loader with multiple loader linkage options to create one of the most versatile products on the market in the 10 tonnes weight class.

Developed and produced by Komatsu Germany GmbH - Construction in Hannover, the WA170M-11 is available with two different loader linkages. In addition to the classic Z-kinematics, Komatsu is offering its “Tool Linkage” kinematics, known from larger models, for the first time in this class.

In a move to perfect the machine before it entered mass production, Komatsu intensified its testing programme - extending the standard 100 hours of testing to a 500 hour trial.

Henrik von Werder, Product Manager at Komatsu Europe, explains: “Offering our Tool Linkage kinematics for the WA170M-11 means the machine can be used flexibly with existing attachments and across a wide variety of tasks - creating additional value for our customers.”

The enhanced testing programme was conducted in collaboration with multiple customers, including German organic waste processing facility Kompostwerk Hellefelder Höhe GmbH.

Operators from the facility tested the wheel loader across various terrains and environments, providing live feedback to help refine the product.

Thorsten Schmidt, a wheel loader operator at Kompostwerk Hellefelder Höhe GmbH, adds: “It’s been great to be involved in the testing of the WA170M-11. Working collaboratively with Komatsu means the machines are more than optimised.

“The machine is very stable, and the cabin is spacious with excellent all-round visibility, including a clear view. Operability is smooth and intuitive, making it comfortable and efficient to work with throughout the day.”

Michael Wadsack, Senior Product Manager at Komatsu Europe, concludes: “Testing our machines in real jobsite applications is essential to meeting our strict quality standards. This approach ensures our products deliver the reliability and performance our customers depend on.”

Since the market launch at Bauma in April 2025, the WA170M-11 has received overwhelmingly positive customer feedback, with numerous orders already placed. With the final testing now concluded, Komatsu is looking forward to delivering the first machines to customers.

The innovative compact wheel loader is powered by a 96 kW Stage V diesel engine and delivers high performance across multiple disciplines and environments.
