Kongskilde Launches New Generation of Stubble Cultivators

Kongskilde Industries A/S, the cultivator specialist, is launching a completely new generation of the Delta Flex stubble cultivator at Agritechnica 2015, named Delta Flex 2.

Delta Flex 2 sets new standards in deep stubble cultivation. It comes with new unique features like the Intelli Pack system for an even consolidation of the soil, synchronised leveller and rollers, and automatic stone release for less wear. Dynamic design underlines that this is a completely new line made for high levels of efficiency and heavy-duty use.

Deep cultivation

Delta Flex 2 is the versatile cultivator for conventional stubble cultivation and mulch tillage. The heavy-duty construction makes it ideal for working depths between 10 to 25 cm, including a planned version for deep cultivation up to 35 cm.

- With Delta Flex 2, we are introducing a heavy-duty stubble cultivator that is highly efficient regardless of whether the farmer is working conventionally, with reduced tillage or organically, says Jens Møller Christoffersen, Product Manager of Kongskilde Industries.

The new range comprises the flagship model in 4 and 6 metre versions and three rigid mounted versions with working widths of 3, 3.5 and 4 metres respectively. A 4 metre hydraulic folding mounted version is also introduced. Power requirements for the 3 metre rigid mounted version start at 120 hp, and the 6 metre trailed version can handle tractors up to 450 hp.

Intelli Pack for even consolidation and levelling

The Delta Flex 2 is launched with a unique hydraulic system – Intelli Pack – that adapts to the changing contours. This keeps a constant pressure on the rear roller, which ensures an even consolidation of the soil for an optimal seedbed. This feature is exclusively available on the 4 and 6 metre trailed versions of Delta Flex 2.

The new rear roller is the second generation Vibro Pack. The updated design ensures an even more consistent consolidation of the soil for an optimal seedbed and agronomical benefits.

Synchronised levelling and consolidation

Another innovation emphasizing a precise cultivation is the built-in leverage principle where the levellers always maintain their position in relation to the rear rollers. When adjusting the working depth of the rear rollers, the levellers are automatically synchronised. This feature is available on the 4 and 6 metre trailed versions and the 4 metre hydraulic folding mounted version of Delta Flex 2.

Hydraulic stone release

The rigid mounted versions of the Delta Flex 2 are particularly suitable for stony conditions, because the hydraulic depth adjustment of the roller also works as an automatic stone release. The release force is pre-set and allows the roller to instantly move vertically and independently on each side due to the two hydraulic cylinders. This means less wear and tear on the roller.

From shallow to deep

It is easy to change the mode from shallow to deep stubble cultivation or vice versa on Delta Flex 2. A new feature means that the tines can be lifted up to 35 cm, enabling deep cultivation with a reduced number of tines or reduced working width. Consequently, the same tractor might be used for different cultivation purposes.

Dynamic weight distribution

Centre-mounted transport wheels mean that the trailed versions of the Delta Flex 2 can work without (or partly using) the roller – an advantage under changing conditions, or if there is a need to adapt the weight distribution between the wheels and the rear roller, e.g. in wet heavy clay soils. A versatile solution that leads to reduced soil compaction and a potential reduction in fuel consumption.

Improved manoeuvrability

The two wheels on the trailed versions of Delta Flex 2 are mounted centrally and inside the frame, which improves the overall manoeuvrability in terms of a reduced turning radius. Compared to the current trailed versions, the wheel dimensions have been increased for less compaction and better stability during road transportation.

New design

The Delta Flex 2 frames have been designed using the latest techniques resulting in an innovative dynamic and curved design, which emphasizes that they are a completely new generation of stubble cultivators. The strength of the construction has been improved to handle larger tractors and cope with more stress.

The Delta Flex 2 stubble cultivators will be launched in 2016.
