L: When and by whom was your company founded and how did you come up with the idea?

JB: Craftcloud was founded by me. The reason for this was my previous experience both in the field of software development and in our family business in the craft sector. Among other things, I am responsible for digitization there and have a stake in a software provider for this industry. In concrete terms, the need for a resource management system there was decisive for the foundation.

We could not or not satisfactorily cover this with the products available on the market. Since my other software company specializes more in on-premise software and mobile working is the priority for this application, this necessitated a start-up. I decided not to develop the software specifically for the company, but for a broad market in order to leverage scaling effects through marketing. I also think external user feedback is essential for a really good product.

L: What problem(s) is your tool/product solving? Can you identify the range of your customers?

JB: Our cloud software offers our customers the opportunity to easily manage their equipment via a browser or smartphone app. A task that, regardless of their size, is very time-consuming in many companies and often neglected. Similar questions and problems always arise in order to maintain an overview: Where is which tool currently in use and is it even ready for operation? When did we carry out the last DGUV-V3 test on our electronic devices? Who is responsible for this and when is the next one?

The functions of our resource management module were developed for craft or industrial companies, but their use can also be adapted to other sectors or areas of application. Ultimately, for example, not just a piece of equipment or tool can be regarded as a resource, but all physical or non-physical things that are used for the functioning of a company.

L: What markets/regions do you focus on and where would you like to expand?

JB: Our own sales focus is currently clearly on the DACH region, where we specifically address trade and industrial companies as target customers. The software is designed to be localized quickly and easily in other markets. Resource management is a challenge that exists almost everywhere in the world and is only subject to relatively general legal and regulatory requirements. The possibility of multilingualism is also consistently implemented. In other regions we are currently looking for sales and cooperation partnerships or regional sales experts.
