“MAMMUT Liner” 24,000 liters with new axle concept

The new model from BSA shines with a safe steering system and hydropneumatic chassis suspension

The “MAMMUT Liner” series from BSA, a company of the Bauer Group, comes equipped as standard with a new axle concept: The special features here include the new stub axle of special steel and the modified axle geometry, which ensure additional load capacity in combination with a significantly increased axle body cross-section.

This vehicle type has been additionally outfitted with a hydropneumatic chassis suspension. This system features the following outstanding properties:

  • Automatic leveling (for optimal adaptation of the chassis to the load)

  • Axle lift on the front axle to increase the tongue load during spreading

  • Locking function to lock the suspension when necessary

  • Automatic roll stabilization through cross-connection of the right and left suspension cylinders for higher driving safety on side slopes and in curves

  • Automatic error monitoring with blink code indication in the display of the control

  • The hydropneumatic (accumulator) ensures automatic modification of the handling as the load increases by compressing the gas.

In addition, an electronic-hydraulic safety steering system was installed, which functions as follows: A safety angular sensor on the drawbar detects the steering lock angle of the tractor and passes this to a safety steering computer, which calculates the steering program and transfers it to the safety angle sensor on the steering axles. The steering function is executed via the proportional hydraulic unit.

This system offers decisive advantages:

  • No mechanical restriction of the steering angle by linkages or hydraulic cylinders on the drawbar

  • No steering forces on tie bolts or on the tow ball coupling from the hydraulic master cylinder, etc.

  • No hydraulic locking of the self-tracking trailing axles during maneuvering

  • Reduction of critical driving states of the towed tanker at higher driving speeds

  • Manual oversteering possible on side slopes

  • Visual and audio error signaling in the operating terminal. In event of faults, the vehicle remains capable of maneuvering.

The hydraulic supply of the safety steering system can be provided by an LS pump or a constant pressure system in the tractor.

The tanker is filled via a 200 mm diameter suction arm in the front center, which pivots to both sides and is equipped with a turbo filler. This ensures that sufficient slurry is supplied to the BSA Duplex pump 200/120-120 so that the pump can deliver its full performance (approx. 450 m³/h). Also installed is a Rotacut MXC 10000, which serves both as a cutting unit and as a foreign object separator.

The MAMMUT Liner additionally features a tire pressure control system, a central lubrication system and a drawbar suspension with height adjustment for improved driving comfort.

Fully automatic with flow measurement

Fully automatic operation with flow measurement ensures compliance with the specified distribution quantities. Wheel sensors measure the speed traveled and relate this to the quantities flowing through the flow meter. An onboard computer analyzes the data and compares it with the specified values. If the speed traveled is too high or low, the quantity of slurry entering the distribution system is adjusted automatically. This is performed via a bypass system that conveys the excess slurry back into the tank.
