MECA V4E Metering unit

MONOSEM has developed an electric version of its pelleted sugarbeet planter. Named MECA V4E, this new metering unit is based on the MECA V4 metering unit with mechanical metering.

Adjustment of the seed population from the tractor cab

After the Monoshox® NG Plus M range, the MECA V4 range is also equipped with an electric drive of the planter units.

This concept allows the management of the seed population directly from the tractor cab. Each planting unit has an electric motor, driving the seed discs via a notched belt. This drive is maintenance-free. With this system, it is possible to place the motor in an elevated position and so protect it from shocks and dust.

ISOBUS Control

The mechanical distribution drive needs a low torque which enables the use of low power motors and thus no generator is needed on the planter. The ISOBUS plug of the tractor provides the electric supply to the motors. The photoelectric sensors, placed under the metering unit, in the shoes, control the seed drop and the distance between the seeds. The speed data, given via a radar, ensures efficient and precise monitoring of the seed population. The seed population and the seed drop controls are ensured by the planters ECU and controlled from the tractor cab thanks to the CS 8000 terminal by a BUS CAN network. CS 8000 Touch or CS 8000 Touch Mini terminal with a tactile screen are available on option.

Compatible with the row cut-off control by GPS

The electric drive also offers the possibility of managing the row cut-offs whether manually or automatically activated, by GPS (Section Control), if the monitor is connected to a GPS antenna. In addition, the electric control enables independent management of the seed population on each metering unit, which for example enables, while using the Tramline, to overseed rows adjacent to the sprayer passage.

A limited quantity of this new range of metering units with electric drive will be available for Spring 2016.
