New universal spreaders by Strautmann
On the occasion of this year's Agritechnica, Strautmann is presenting a new generation of VS universal spreaders. Compared to their predecessor models, these new models excel by a newly developed spreading unit with a larger clearance and a new chassis.
The Strautmann VS universal spreaders have proved themselves on the market and have been used by many farmers and contractors to their utmost satisfaction for many years. In the course of technical development, these models have now been thoroughly redesigned.
The redesigned spreading unit with an enlarged clearance of 1.55 m is a novelty. The spreading beaters have a larger diameter of 620 mm and are equipped with 12 mm strong Hardox tines which can be turned over or completely replaced when worn. Drive is provided by large roller chains. An oil lubrication for reduced wear is optionally available. The material is evenly distributed over an operating width of up to 24 m by means of the spreading discs equipped with throwshovels also made of Hardox. As in the previous series, both the spreading discs and the two spreading beaters are separately protected by means of a cam-type cut-out clutch each to ensure maximum safety in case of foreign objects or overload.
On the largest model, the VS 2005 with a gross vehicle weight rating of 20 t, the chassis has been also newly developed. For permanent protection against corrosion, the frame has been galvanised and its weight considerably reduced by means of an optimised design. The drawbar with mechanical suspension for top and bottom linkage is linked beneath the frame and has an extremely slim design which gives the VS 2005 optimum manoeuvrability. The boogie tandem chassis equipped with rigid BPW axles in its standard version, is optionally also available with passive steering or electronic active steering.
The completely welded trough is fitted with trimmed side panels with additionally welded-on stanchions for maximum stability. The transport capacity can be extended to a maximum of 16 m³ by means of 300 mm high extensions. The transport floor consists of robust, 14 mm strong round steel chains with a breaking load of 25 t each and is hydraulically powered by large sprockets. The diverse operating options range from simple direct connection to ISOBUS-compatible control options which are, in connection with GPS systems and weighing device, able to discharge the spreading material according to sub-area specific criteria.
The VS 2005 with a gross vehicle weight rating of 20 t is the largest model of the series and will be available in time for the coming season in spring; the smaller 16-t and 18-t models will follow promptly.
