The renowned, international jury of experts has once again awarded their first place vote to Europe's leading trailer manufacturer, this time in the Smart Trailer category. The votes are in! The jury of international experts named Schmitz Cargobull the winner in the Smart Trailer category for what is also called the SmartTrailer concept. "This is a wonderful response to our vehicle concept. Schmitz Cargobull’s SmartTrailer concept is based on a new generation of the telematics hardware, which also includes extra optional sensor equipment. Customers benefit particularly from the concept's ability to link up all the relevant sensors and monitor the associated trailer components directly via the telematics system. In the past, each individual component was generally treated as a stand-alone unit, dependent on its own sensor and transmission elements. In Schmitz Cargobull’s SmartTrailer concept, however, every component is directly linked to the telematics control unit – be it the tyre pressure monitoring system, door sensors, door locking system or temperature recorder. The temperature recorder in the new TrailerConnect® system is a digital temperature recorder certified in accordance with DIN EN 1283. Should they need a standard printed temperature log, customers can have their vehicle equipped with an optional Schmitz Cargobull printer. TrailerConnect® is also equipped with a wireless LAN module.

"Following the motto 100 % SMART, Schmitz Cargobull will now be equipping all S.KO COOL reefer semi-trailers with a telematics system as standard. The standard telematics equipment creates a strong foundation for optimum control over an interconnected, integrated logistics chain, thereby helping to boost efficiency and reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO)," adds Marco Reichwein, Managing Director of the Schmitz Cargobull subsidiary, Cargobull Telematics.

The jury for the prestigious awards was made up of journalists from 16 specialist transport publications in Europe. The “Trailer Innovation” platform focuses on interesting innovations from the world of trailers and trucks. It showcases a wide number of trailer innovations, no matter how big or small they may be. Now in their ninth year, the awards honour trailer manufacturers in a total of seven categories.
