Bauma 2022 comes after three challenging years for the Soilmec group. The change of management of the Trevi Group, the difficulties in dealing with the pandemic and the consequences of a nearby conflict have severely tested the resilience of the Romagnolo’s brand.
Since its foundation in 1969, Soilmec has always focused on developing valid engineering solutions for the world of foundations by building product lines designed to improve the quality, safety, productivity and profitability of the construction site.
In this edition of Bauma Soilmec has decided to present itself with a completely renewed display layout, focusing on the customer and his needs (External area north – Stand 522 / 9). From the classic "parade" of machines to an exhibition composed by thematic areas, which resume the daily lives of our customers through in-depth analysis of machines, technologies and fields of application.
The equipment on display will underline the distinctive features of the products that characterize the current Soilmec range, streamlined and implemented with the latest technical updates.
The Blue Tech line for drilling rigs, developed with an energy-saving architecture to ensure the best performance through solutions aimed at reducing energy dissipation and fuel consumption.
The Hydromill line that will be represented at the fair by the flagship SC-135 Tiger, exhibited for the first time in Munich.
The versatility of the micropile line machines through the display of models in different configurations and the first battery-powered electric machine.
Finally, there will be an area dedicated to digitalization, control and training. Characterized by a mobile learning unit that sees the DMS room and the new excavation simulator installed inside it, developed on a cabin of the Blue Tech series.
Large diameter drilling rigs
Based on the experience and success of the first generation, the new SR machines of the Blue Tech line have been designed to improve their productivity and operational flexibility to an ever-greater extent, reducing operating costs and emissions as well as dedicated care on comfort, ergonomics and safety of operator and staff on site.
The design of the Blue Tech Lines is based on the optimization of power transmission and on the minimization of energy dissipation. Particular attention has been given to the main parts of the machine which are normally involved during the work cycle. Diesel engines are equipped with the "start and slow" system and automatic control of the radiators. These new motors automatically adjust the speed according to actual needs. In this way they improve combustion and cooling efficiency and ultimately reduce noise pollution.
The rotary heads have been developed with a wide range of solutions to reduce losses and increase performance. Optimized lines, dedicated distributor on rotary and power control through DMS for torque & speed best compromise to name some of them. The main winch is provided with a dedicated control specially designed for drilling rigs. Thanks to this solution, the system runs at higher pressure with less fluid flowing. That means a significant loss reduction, easier and more precise control especially when drilling deep piles. The design of the Blue Tech drilling rigs together with plug & play kits allows a quick conversion between the different versions and technologies.
The range will be represented at the fair by the most successful model for medium-sized machines, the SR-65, and the new SR-125 platform, which was previewed at Bauma in its Blue Tech guise.
The SR-65 will be configured in the LDP version, where it is particularly appreciated for its performance in segmental casing piles, equipped with segmental mast and LHR mast. The choice of this configuration is to highlight its multifunctionality and ease of conversion not only between different technologies but even between different solutions within the same technology. The SR-65 Blue Tech in LDP version sees the maximum expression of its dynamic and aggressive character. In fact, the machine was built with a compact design that allows you to have a machine with high mechanical performance that is agile on site and transportable complete with Kelly bar. Less than 30 minutes from the truck to the pile.
The SR-125 has been updated to the Blue Tech version which includes a redesigned operator cab, new hydraulic and mechanical systems improved for greater efficiency. The machine has improved characteristics compared to the previous model, HIT, mainly in terms of the performance of the rotary head, with an increase in the torque value and in the main winch thanks to the adoption of a closed circuit. The machine will be exhibited in CAP / CSP, a technology developed by Soilmec to build diaphragms of piles where the size of the construction site did not allow traditional methods. A technology that finds its maximum expression in the Soilmec system of two independent rotary heads.
Hydromill
The SC-135 Tiger is Soilmec's flagship. The Hydromill the way it should be. Designed to be as productive as the situation demands, unfailingly reliable and able to minimize downtime and maintenance costs.
The machine is a Tiger type equipped with the HDD system, platform with drums on the machine body, and has a solid and imposing structure. To allow a perfect movement of the hydraulic and mud hoses in the different working radius, the drums are installed in series and are always perfectly aligned with the cathead. The SC-135 Tiger is equipped with a Caterpillar C27 engine capable of delivering the 708 kW power required to work in demanding conditions in terms of depth and panel size. The power unit presents a complete package of solutions aimed at reducing consumption and pollution. The "start & slow" system, the automatic and independent control of the radiator fans and the optimized air flows inside the machine allow you to work in the most extreme temperature conditions and with severe work cycles. The excellent reliability of the machine is ensured by the double hydraulic system, with lines dedicated respectively to the excavation module and the base machine, by the high pressure filters, dedicated to each return line, and finally to an accurate drainage management with dedicated tank. As with all other Soilmec equipment, safety, ergonomics and accessibility were among the cornerstones in the design of the SC-135 Tiger. Walkways with handrails and ladders for easy access to the various machine levels. System with 8 cameras for perfect perimeter control around the machine. Spacious cabin equipped with a touchscreen monitor for the DMS system and radio controls for safe operations such as changing teeth are just some of the many solutions installed on the SC-135 Tiger. Finally, this over 200 t machine was designed for modular assembly, with a single load transport weight of 45 t.
In the Bauma 2022 version the SC-135 Tiger is equipped with the new Soilmec SH-35 excavation module. With an operating weight of between 30 and 38 tons, the SH-35 is assembled on a frame that allows for a wide range of panel thicknesses, from 650 mm to 1500 mm. To ensure a precise verticality and allow the correction of any deviation there are 12 instrumented flaps. A new mud pump, hydraulic compensators with improved flow rate and new hydraulic fittings for connecting the motors are some of the developments installed on the equipment.
Micro-drilling rigs
The world of micropile machines will be represented at Bauma 2022 by two SM-22 and the new electric machine from Soilmec. The SM-22 is the biggest rig of the SM line and is an evolution of the historic PSM-1350 and SM-20 models, seen all over the world, designed to guarantee high levels of efficiency and productivity with particular attention to the highest safety standards. The machine was developed with a kinematics capable of guaranteeing an extreme variety of angles and positions in different construction site conditions and with different drilling methods. The Cummins B6.7 engine, available in Stage V version, can deliver the necessary power to offer the correct support in the various technologies.
Two fixed stabilizers in the rear and two extendable hydraulic stabilizers in the front, rotating and pivoting, guarantee stability to the SM-22 even in difficult conditions. The machine is equipped with openable hydraulic cages, ROM and SPM operating modes and all accessories / devices to ensure the highest level of accessibility, visibility and safety in compliance with the latest safety standards. The Soilmec SM-22 is truly a multi-function micro-drilling rig, thanks to its modular design it can be easily configured in different configurations such as single rotary, double rotary, top-hammer and vibro-rotary to perform consolidations, micropiles and anchors with different drilling technologies, direct circulation, reverse circulation, DTH, CFA, Jet grouting. To underline the multifunctionality of the machines of the SM line, it was chosen to exhibit two units of the SM-22, one in tie rod configuration and one with double head for vertical micropiles of large diameter, with 300 mm casing.
The novelty of the line, exhibited in preview, will be the SM-13e. The project was born with the aim of creating the first electric drilling machine, evolving that path started decades ago, with the advent of the first electric motorized machines for drilling and consolidation works in internal environments and in tunnels (ST-20, ST -60, SM-5E etc ..). It is no longer a simple "engine replacement" where the diesel engine is replaced by an electric motor to only avoid the emission of exhaust gases in closed environments, binding the machine to the connection of an electric power cable. But there is talk of an electrical power supply aligned with the latest developments in the sector, which within the power transmission sees permanent magnet electric motors, lithium battery, alternatives to cable power supplies, and control inverters, therefore very far from previous technologies. mains power supply with three-phase asynchronous motors instead of the diesel engine. This represents the first step in the development of a whole range of electrified SOILMEC machines, what we will call zeroEmission of the E-TECH line. A new line of machines, from micropiles, piles and cranes, which responds to the increasingly frequent demands of the market in terms of reducing polluted and acoustic emissions, increasing efficiency and reducing operating costs.
