Sprayer improvements from Kuhn at Cereals

Kuhn Farm Machinery has launched an updated version of its popular METRIS trailed sprayer at this year’s Cereals event. Featuring a number of new updates, suspension and operating elements, the new METRIS 2 is easier to operate and gives improved working output.

The new METRIS 2 is available in either 3,200 or 4,100 litre capacities and is fitted with an all-aluminium boom and with working widths from 24 to 36m. 

The new sprayer is available in three versions – MANUSET, DILUSET+ and e-SET – each of which offers easy and intuitive control of the machine’s rinsing, spraying, incorporation, delivery and suction circuits.

The MANUSET version uses ‘steering wheel’ type valves to control the sprayer’s functions, while the DILUSET+ and e-SET versions give electronic control of the sprayer’s functions from the comfort of the tractor cab. 

The METRIS 2 also features a new chemical inductor which uses a venturi effect to propel chemicals into the main tank.

The fully integrated suspension system protects the machine’s structure and enables faster working speeds when operating on rough terrain. The drawbar is connected to the chassis and suspended by “silent blocks”, the same system is also incorporated on the rear axle. In addition, the boom is mounted on Kuhn’s parallelogram suspension system and EQUILIBRA pendulum link which allow the boom to track uneven terrain and absorb shocks in three dimensions. The suspension elements also allow for higher, safer road transport speeds.

The new optional KUHN VISIOREB control box features a 7” touchscreen to allow fingertip control of a range of programmable functions including section control, spraying rates, automatic filling shut off and auto-rinse.

The new sprayer is easy to manoeuvre thanks to its compact dimensions which measure just 4.40m in length (axle to tow ring), 3.40m high and 2.55m wide when in its fully-folded transport mode.

The METRIS 2 also features a high-grade, injection moulded polyester tank fitted with anti-roll baffles, and an exceptionally smooth interior for easier rinsing and cleaning. The polyester body is also repairable should damage be incurred. An optional steering axle is also available to ensure the sprayer follows the tractor’s exact wheel marks for reduced crop damage.
