The demand for semi-trailers for vans recovered in January. Which brands of semi-trailers were bought more often?

Experts of the Auto Market Research Institute analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in January and identified the top brands in three segments of semi-trailers: import of used, domestic resale and purchase of new ones.

Following the segment of semi-trailer trucks, market activity in the semi-trailer segment increased slightly in January. In the first month of 2024, Ukrainians bought 2.4 thousand new and used semi-trailers. While this   by a significant 30.6% less than in the same period last year in 2023, but by 14.8% more than in December 2023.

According to the results of January , 58.9% of all semi-trailers were bought on the domestic market (1.4 thousand transactions). 842 used semi-trailers were brought from abroad, which accounted for 34.4% of the total number.

6.7% of semi-trailers were purchased new(164 pcs.). Of this number, 37 were produced in Ukraine, and the remaining 127 units. were imported new from abroad.

The most popular semi-trailers on the domestic market

The highest demand on the domestic market in January was observed for tipper semi-trailers. 23.5%, or 339 units, purchased these. quantitatively Also, container carriers ( 13%, 188 pcs.) and flatbed semi-trailers ( 11.4%, 164 pcs.) do not lose their popularity.

Tent semi-trailers also made it to the Top 5( 10.2%, 147 units) and refrigerators (122 units, 8.5% ).

Among manufacturers, the German Shmitz remains the leader of the domestic semi-trailer market. Among all semi-trailers, they were 20% (288 units).

The second and third places were also taken by German brands — Koegel (161 units, 11.2% ) and Krone (158 units, 11% ), respectively.

Austrian Schwarzmuller took fourth place (67 units, 4.6% ), and Polish Bodex took fifth place (45 units, 3.1% ).

The most popular used semi-trailers brought from abroad

During January 2023, the most frequently imported from abroad were awning semi-trailers( 34.3%, 289 units), refrigerators ( 12.6%, 106 units) and awning platforms ( 12.2%, 103 units).

Dump trucks ( 11.9%, 100 units) and container trucks ( 10.8%, 91 units) also entered the top five by type.

The first in the list of the most popular used semi-trailers brought from abroad was the Shmitz brand. Its share increased again and amounted to 42.4% (357 units).

Second place was taken by Krone products (92 units, 10.9% ). Koegel (85 units, 10.1% ) was in third place, and Schwarzmueller (31 units, 3.7% ) was in fourth place.
