With the HVZ-PAVERTRON, Probst GmbH presents a major innovation in the field of paving technology: The world‘s first electro-hydraulic installation clamp for excavators from 2.5 tonnes. The HVZ-PAVERTRON was developed to significantly speed up the laying process while ensuring maximum precision.

Thanks to its intelligent control system, a complete tong cycle is reduced to just 4.5 seconds. This means that up to 700 square metres of paving can be laid per day under optimum conditions - a significant advance for greater efficiency in daily construction site use.

Innovative control system with ten programmes

The electro-hydraulic control system of the HVZ-PAVERTRON ensures high speed and precision. The electronic control system takes over the ‘intelligence’ of the system, while the drive remains hydraulic. Ten programmes are available to choose from and cover a wide range of requirements to ensure the system is equipped for any challenge.

‘The program is selected directly on the tongs via the intuitive colour display or conveniently from the excavator cab using the optional remote control,’ explains Richard Gärtner, Head of Development at Probst. The standard programme describes the standard sequence of a full laying cycle. With the standard programme and the mechanical booster function, a full tong cycle is reduced to just 4.5 seconds and another highlight is the patented calibration programme. It adapts the clamp to the carrier device - for maximum possible clamp speed and to achieve a smooth changeover of movements.

Focus on robustness and safety

Robustness and safety count on the construction site. The optimised design of the HVZ-PAVERTRON from Probst saves weight without sacrificing stability. The integrated overload protection protects the tongs from damage caused by excessive pressure, for example.

‘This enables us to guarantee a long service life for the HVZ-PAVERTRON even under the toughest construction site conditions,’ explains Matthias Muhl, Probst‘s test manager. To maximise safety during use, a signal lamp indicates various states of the tongs so that the driver knows, for example, whether the stone layer has been gripped securely. Folding handles make it easier to position the tongs in narrow places such as house walls and also serve as a support for the excavator suspension.

Adapter for every challenge

The HVZ-PAVERTRON is the all-rounder for mechanically laying a wide variety of stone formations with the excavator. Probst offers a wide range of adapters for additional applications. With the roller positioning adapters, stone layers can be moved even more gently into the desired bond. The HVZ-VA-SUPERSOFT shifting adapters are suitable for the gentle shifting of shift-proof stones, while the HVZ-VA-180° make manual turning of the tongs superfluous when laying in the 1/3 stretcher bond. All adapters can be retrofitted to the half-irons of the HVZ-PAVERTRON secondary clamp, thus ensuring maximum efficiency on the construction site.

Experience the HVZ-PAVERTRON live at bauma

Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the HVZ-PAVERTRON live in action at bauma 2025. ‘We can hardly wait to present the HVZ-PAVERTRON to our customers at Bauma,’ says Eric Wilhelm, Managing Director of Probst GmbH.

‘Interested parties will have the opportunity to see the speed, precision and ease of use of the HVZ-PAVERTRON for themselves on site.’
