Gaiser GmbH has successfully implemented the SQ70/55V on their 27-ton and 23-ton Case crawler excavators, highlighting the quick coupler's versatility and efficiency.
A Colab of Proffessionals
When a quick coupler effortlessly handles the toughest jobs, there’s often more behind it than pure engineering skill. With the new SQ70/55V quick coupler, Lehnhoff demonstrates how close collaboration with customers drives true innovation.
When every minute counts on a construction site and attachments are changed several times a day depending on the task, it’s often Lehnhoff Hartstahl GmbH’s quick couplers that provide the crucial boost in efficiency at the excavator arm. Lehnhoff customers value that. Now, a new member of Lehnhoff’s product family of symmetrical quick couplers has been developed: the SQ70/55V — created in direct collaboration with a long-standing customer.
“We sat down with Lehnhoff and asked whether it would be possible to create a quick coupler perfectly tailored to our requirements — without compromises. Lehnhoff made that idea a reality,” begins Marius Schmidt, Managing Director of Gaiser GmbH Earthworks and Demolition. With the new SQ70/55V, Lehnhoff has developed a quick coupler system that excels even under extreme conditions — thanks to close cooperation with long-time customer Gaiser.
A Partner on Equal Footing
Gaiser GmbH Earthworks and Demolition from Bühlertal has been a satisfied Lehnhoff customer for many years. Whether in traditional excavation, demolition, or processing of resulting materials — the family-run company has diverse needs. “We don’t operate in just one field, but use our machines across a wide range,” explains Schmidt. “From earth excavation to reinforced concrete demolition — our equipment needs to be robust and at the same time extremely versatile.”
As a mechanical engineering technician and trained steelworker, Schmidt knows the challenges of the industry well. His goal was clear: the proven SQ70 quick coupler needed an upgrade. The key was to implement the practical insights from Gaiser GmbH while retaining the Lehmatic Safety Control assistance system.
From Concept to Solution – The SQ70/55V is Born
Schmidt and Lehnhoff’s product developers worked closely to create the latest member of the SQ quick coupler series – the SQ70/55V. “Lehnhoff involved us as users from the beginning and really listened to us,” emphasizes Schmidt. “A true partnership.”
For the new SQ70/55V quick coupler in the 18 to 32-ton excavator class, a new housing and a new locking mechanism using a U-block cylinder were developed. This significantly reduces the overall height while increasing breakout force.
“We used more wear-resistant steel in many areas of the new SQ70/55V to make it even more durable. We also beveled all relevant contact points so that changing attachments is smoother and easier,” explains Lehnhoff Product Manager Sebastian Denniston.

Efficiency Meets Safety
“These improvements make the SQ70/55V even safer and more user- and maintenance-friendly. Our operators always have a clear view of the operational status and secure locking on the LSC system display,” praises Schmidt. “With the LSC system, the SQ70/55V no longer needs cumbersome safety latches or hooks. This not only reduces changeover times but also means that attachments don’t have to be aligned as precisely during switching as with other safety systems — which relieves our operators.”
The unique symmetrical valve technology, which allows hydraulic attachments to be picked up even when rotated 180°, often eliminates the need for a rotator. Another reason why Schmidt relies on Lehnhoff quick couplers: rugged short-stroke valves are designed to be more resistable to dirt and debris, easy to clean, and ensure an exceptionally long service life — ideal for the tough demands of everyday construction work.
A Partnership That Delivers
“Since August, we’ve been using the first two SQ70/55V quick couplers on two 27-ton Case crawler excavators. A third one is already ordered and will be used on our 23-ton Case. Lehnhoff’s symmetrical SQ quick coupler is a true all-rounder for us. Whether precision or high force is required on the jobsite – the new SQ70/55V handles it all,” says Schmidt. “The smooth jobsite operations in recent months have shown me and my team the improvements we’ve gained with the SQ70/55V.”
For Lehnhoff Hartstahl GmbH, the success of the project is yet another example of the company’s customer-driven innovation. “We don’t develop products for the market — we create solutions for the people who need them every day,” says Sebastian Denniston. With the SQ70/55V, Lehnhoff once again demonstrates how strong partnerships can set new benchmarks — on and off the construction site.
