For maximum animal welfare

Good housing conditions for farm animals have become a broad social concern. To ensure that animal welfare is also implemented in practice, WEDA Dammann & Westerkamp has been providing animal-friendly, sustainable conditions in pig farming for years with its inno- vative, field-tested Be.Well animal welfare barns.

More space for people and animals

This applies, for example, to the layout of the movement pens, which offers sufficient space for animals and easier handling for farmers. The Be.Well farrowing pens and piglet houses from WEDA therefore have an outdoor run, which also allows the staff to clean the pens easily and quickly. “With our new plastic boards in wooden look, on the other hand, the hygiene standards under ecological husbandry conditions can be achieved quite easily because nothing sticks after cleaning,” argues WEDA development manager Ralf Meyer.

Quick cleaning with Quick.Gate

A matching element of the pens, which makes also cleaning the outside outlets easier, is the new Quick.Gate from WEDA. Its mode of operation is simple and ergonomic: When opened, the gate simultaneously closes the pens and forms a long corridor that can be mucked out with a loader in one go.

Same floor plan inspires confidence

The architecture of the Be.Well movement pens is also tailored to the basic needs of the animals in other respects. Sows and piglets can move freely in the straw and get fresh air at any time. The farrowing areas and piglet pens are also identically constructed so that the animals always have a familiar environment when they change areas.

Maximum protection

At the same time, the animal welfare houses also offer maximum protection: sows can farrow freely, but they can also be quickly restrained if necessary to largely exclude health risks for the animals due to biting or crushing.

Ecological, ergonomic, efficient

With these features, WEDA’s Be.Well animal welfare housings have been proving their worth worldwide for years. Tailored to the respective conditions, they fulfil the high requirements of organic pig farming on the one hand. On the other hand, with their ergonomic standards, they ensure easy work processes and better production results in terms of animal welfare, hygiene and animal health and thus ultimately a maximum of animal welfare.
